rev limiter hits at 6000rpm

Been trying to help my buddy get his bike running, but it will not go over 6000rpm.

1. hits rev limiter at 6000rpm
2. in all gears
3. tried to switch PC maps, did not help
4. had PC and a hub, removed the hub, did not help.

any ideas?

Are you saying the fuel cuts at 6k or he is bouncing the limiter at 6k?

Have you removed the pc and tried without it at all? Any other mods to the bike?

bikes cam timing been messed with at all or setting FI Lights? If no i say pull PC as well and see if it goes away.

no FI lights, and as far as i know cam timing has not been changed

It's none of the stuff you guys are doing replace the entire fuel pump issue assembl issue will be solved if in tank setup.
If you have 2 bikes with in tank pumps swap tanks and you will see what I mean..

I'm thinking the tach or map or both have been inadvertently set for a 2-cylinder engine, instead of a 4 cylinder. It reads the fires, and concludes that the actual rpm is 12,000 instead of 6,000, and cute it off.

But then again, I could be wrong,

my 600 did that with a bad fuel pump up to 6k it ran awsome but then died bad at WOT

Sounds like a fuel pump.
