Although I love to ride with my friends, sometimes just jumping on my scooter and flying up to the mountains for coffee, breakfast and reading the newspaper by a stream is really theraputic. Doyle

I did the same thing just last weekend. Got off a 12 hour shift at work and headed up to Prescott, Az for a morning ride. But man was it HOT coming back into the valley!! It felt like a blow torch hittin' me. Still a nice ride though.

I hear ya Doyle. I ride by myself 99% of the time. 80% of that is after 9pm and between 4:00 and 6:00 am. During riding season, I get up at 4:00 am and ride 100 miles before breakfast. I come home, eat breakfast, and head for work. I do it on weekends too just like yesterday and today. Yesterday though, I did over 300 miles before breakfast because I didn't have to go to work. I normally work on Saturdays but not yesterday. And then this morning, I only did 133 miles because I'll be busy starting at 7:30 am. This is why my Busa has over 22,000 miles right now and she turned 9 months old two days ago. I had a R1 before her and I put over 47,000 miles in one year and 11 months.

Right on Doyle!

Sometimes individual posts get lost or are underemphasized in the shuffle of our busy .ORG....I just wanted to acknowledge your post and say that your seat time (and pleasure thereof) qualifies you as a real motorcyclist! Even though alot of our riding is solo, it's comforting and a pleasure to remind ourselves how, at any given time, hundreds of us are out there alone ripping up the tarmac, fully basking in our passion. Here's ta all o'ya! Doyle

I can't recall if I've posted before about my work schedule. In case I haven't, here ya go. I work 6 days a week and I have two kids. On Mondays and Wednesdays, my daughter has C2 education class from 5:00-7:00pm and my son has Karate class from 7:30-9:00pm. Tuesdays and Thursdays, we go to the gym after work. Sundays, we go to church in the morning depending on what time they want to go. Piano lesson again at 1:00-1:45 pm. Then we do our family thing whatever it is. My wife is so busy at work, too. Sometimes I go to her office on weekend to help her finish like filing or something. If I don't go riding either early mornings or after 9:00pm, I won't be able to ride at all as you all can see why. Would you guys consider me as a part-time rider? I think I am. It's funny how some people on other forums tell me that I put more miles on my bike than a full time rider. I just love riding so much that when I do get a day off, I try to ride all day long and my wife understands that it's my day. That's when I try to do atleast 800 miles. I really feel very lucky to have a wonderful wife. She was even there to cheer for me on my last day at MSF. She sat in the car for half a day just to watch me do the riding part of the test. Maybe that's why I end up being the Top Finisher in our class. I aced both written and the riding part of the test. Mind you guys, I had no experience whatsoever prior to attending the MSF. I have never even pushed the starter button on a bike in my life. I was 39 years old at the time. I started riding in October of '05. That's when I bought my very first bike (a used '01 R1). After reading and asking all kinds of questions about the Busa, I finally decided that it's the bike of choice to fit my riding style (long distance riding). Now that I have a Busa as my second bike, I just can't get enough of her. as you can see the mileage. Anyways, I just wanted to share also how I got started riding. I will keep racking up those miles.

Wow, in contrast, I'm 61 and had a Bug Enterprises, "Flea" minibike at 11 years of age....that was FIFTY years ago and 71 motorcycles later! (a few of my motorcycles had an accompanying parts bike and I counted them too). The great thing is that our passion for this sport doesn't seem to lessen over the years. Doyle

Went for a ride by myself in the country this morning too. Stopped at a little cafe in an even littler town of Forsyth MO, for lunch. Started with a great salad then on to fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans w/bacon, then I went back for round 2. Pot roast with more taters, carrots, and green beans. Finished with a big pile of Blackberry cobbler. Whew, buuurp!
Ride was fair, rained 5" to 8" yesterday through the area I rode, lotta gravel washed out in the road, one place the road was washed out into the gravel, so it was a scenery ride on a beautiful, sunny day, and that lunch!
Glad you all had a great day too.
