Ride report and exhaust question.

First the question. I'm looking to purchase a pair of Yosh pipes for the Busa. Two parter.

One: how loud is the zyclone baffle? I want deep growl. Not loud howl. At the same time, I want louder than stock of course. Just not looking to be super loud. I heard a single race baffle on a gixxer 1000 this weekend and I liked it but was just wondering how much quieter it is.

Second: where is the best price on these pipes? I mean, the LOWEST price form a reputable online store.

This weekend was great. Put a lot of miles on. Saturday morning I met Gar mid trip on his saddle sore run. Then we headed for Leavenworth to grab lunch. Then Sunday we headed back out and nailed down several miles as well. 66 to 62.

Next weekend I'm likely to ride all the way to Corydon and then come back down and head up to Paoli.

Anyway, just had to voice how great a weekend (and weather) I had. :D

Go with the race baffle not the Zyclone. It is only marginally louder and should have better flow. As for the deep growl, that kind of comes with large cc to some extent and less to the design of the baffle (again IMHO). What I am saying is that a 1300cc Busa will be deeper pitched in general than say a 600 or even 1000cc machine so it is hard to compare a pipe on one machine to another.

And furthermore, most race cans are straight thru so they sound pretty much alike with only slight differences depending on can shape and packing material (or lack thereof). Remember that the term baffle is used rather loosly with most aftermarket exhausts as it is usually nothing more than a straight tube drilled with holes surrounded by fiberglass packing. So this has very little to do with the tone, unlike stock exhausts that can have very different designs with true accoustic baffles.

Does this make any sense? Sorry for rambling. Oh and I have used Yosh race cans twice before and have been very satisfied with them and neither was all that loud except at high RPM. BTW, I think Micron has better tone and is about the same loud-wise.

Uggg, I feel like I'm going to offend you here. Just know in advance that I mean no harm but I will be countering many things you have said.

CC doesn't have as much to do with sound as you might think. My F4 with an X-Metal pipe was much deeper than the Gixxer 1000 I heard the other night with the Yosh pipe.

I also don't agree about the pipes sounding the same. I've heard a lot of pipes in my time (and a lot recently just trying to decide which I liked) and the sounds vary dramatically. Hell, just compare a Micron and a Vance and Hines for a dramatic example of this.

I do agree with you on the Micron btw. I just can't afford it.

This is why I'm trying hard to find a good price on the yosh stainless. I would THINK that the stainless won't tarnish as much as aluminum pipes will such as the one on my SV.

Yeah I guess I should not say they all sound the same, I just mean similar. But if you are very discriminating and want just the right sound it might be hard to find what you want. And of course the exact can volume and packing material and density can effect the sound/tone so it is not necessarily just based on cc size. I should not have said that exactly. But the fact that larger cc machines push more air volume does tend to create a deeper tone. To add to this, the exact design of the head pipes effects the tone as well so yes they vary. I guess what I am saying is forget what I said (smile).

As for where to get a Yosh for cheap, I bought mine from Dennis Kirk in the past. Neither was that great a deal but I found that no matter where I checked, the price was about the same. However, Dennis Kirk has free shipping (over a certain $ amount) which effectively lowers the price.
