For a lack of nicer words, they are probably full o' crap. Look at some pictures of other's bikes and if the others have the bolts, so should yours.

Call him back and get the bolt. I've lost a few on mine and the dealer charges like 5 bucks for two of 'em.

Stealership talk(pp.14 item 3 in their book of excuses) go tell them you want the bolt replaced.........I would have to consider never taking the bike back to a dealership that tried to pull that on me, my .02.

If I were you I'd talk to the manager/owner and ask him if normal policy for his dealership is to lie to customers like this and that you intend to "spread the word" about his flimflam tactics to your friends! I'd be raising Hell if I were you! This and many other sorry dealership stories I have witnessed over the years is why I never take my bike in to the dealer for anything! But we're all at their mercy if warranty work is required. GOOD LUCK!

I call BULL$#!% !! There is no empty holes in the bikes fairing.

When I bought mine it was missing a fairing bolt at the bottom, I went back to the dealership and check the floor models and it also was missing one in the same place, I think it is ship in the crate like that, but they were suppose to replace it when it was prep for sale. ( I accused the dealer of taking it and charging for the bolt) like someone said it was bout $5 bucks. I told them to replace it or take the bike back, I had my fingers cross cuz they weren't getting the bike back :o)

Could you post a pic of the missing bolt?

On my 99 when I replaced the lower, it had an extra hole for later years.

Mine was missing also. I called the dealership St. Helens honda, suzuki, polaris and they ordered me one and sent it to my home free of charge. They also gave me a good deal on the bike, waited to put gas in it until I was there ready to purchase it. The waited and started it up infront of me and then handed me the keys. They were very professional and I appreciated that they waited to charge the battery and give it some gas until I arrived. Nothing more irritating than a shop rate reeming out your bike before you get the keys.

They have a customer for life.

mine was missing too...amazingly i looked in my book and it was in a bag ...so might be some truth to that
