Roads in north east PA?

Just doing a little planning for next month's trip to include MA, NY, VT, Canada, NH. Also thought that we might visit the north east corner of PA (Poconos/Scranton area). Anyone know how the roads are in this part of the country? Good twisties? Good pavement? Or should we leave PA out of the plan?
