SAD NEWS TODAY...

Incident #1 occurred at the Kinston drag strip when a rider on a GSXR1100 was unaware that a vehicle (previously racing) had stalled in his lane. I'm still puzzled as to why track officials including the driver of the car had not informed them his car was still on the track.

Anyway apparently the track is not very well lit towards the end and the rider hit the car at 130mph. Killed instantly and the area guys said his bike litterally shattered dislodging both tires. I don't understand how drastic a mistake could have been made.

I also found out that another local mechanic (guy who's done some work on my bike) wrecked at the track also (not Kinston) and broke his arm. May lead to amputation, I'm praying for his healing because the guy is really good with bikes. Keep these two individuals & their familys in your prayers and be safe out there guys/gals.

God bless,
BigDawg

sorry to hear drag racing is some dangerous stuff that sounds like the 1st incident could have been prevented and there will be some serious furniture moving to come

Yeah there was no since in that. Had it been my car I would have made sure officials knew it was still on the track. Why couldn't the guys in the tower see the car?

it must have been very very poorly lit.... and the guy in the tower must have not been paying attention.

Thanks for keeping us informed Bigdawg ----also in the Raleigh area we've also already lost 3 riders. Which makes it 4 in the area with the season just beginning.

Be safe and keep praying!

That's not good news BigDawg...so sorry to hear this.

I'll hope for the best for your friend, as well as our fallen riders' family...

Very sad. Sounds like the track should be shut down. i can not understand how a car could be eft on the track. Must be more to it??

oh man.. sorry to hear the bad news. i hope the mechanic gets through it ok without losing his arm..

as for the death... i too am puzzled as to why the officials allowed that to happen? were they asleep at the switch, so to speak? poor guy probably never saw it coming... man, that's unbelievable.

sad news indeed.

I've been to that track and some others in the central carolina area. I have to say that the way folks run some of these places, I will never take my bike, cars or trucks down their tracks. I've seen guys loose their engine and the track officials let the next group run without even cleaning the track! .:O .:O .:O
