i spliced mine to the hot lead on the battery. i have a short (easy to replace and cheap) wire with a 30A fuse and a plug for the remainder of wire. i've had the bike 3 years with absolutely no issues. this will cut power to EVERYTHING and not cause problems with running the bike with no fuel (vacuum or fuel injector issues, maybe? dunno.) and it isn't possible for the thief to run your battery dead trying to get it started. the lights still flash and everything when the alarm goes off
