I got a lot of the scratches out of my painted plastics by starting out with Chrome Polish
on the deeper ones and then going to Brasso for the next polishing and then finishing
with Turtle "cleaner" wax, which has some extremely fine abrasive in it.
On the lighter scratches, I just gently use Brasso and then finish polishing with
the cleaner wax. Use the Brasso very gently as it can really cut in if you push it.
I'm not guaranteeing anything so do it at your own risk, but it worked beautifully
on my 2006 machine.
