Want to share your close calls on the Busa?

Mine was back in 2002,I was living in Moody,Alabama at the time and was finished riding 25 south of Leeds(awesome road, goes over two ridges,a short version of Deal's Gap) and was headed over to Mt. Cheaha (another great ride) on the back roads enjoying the perfect day. I was enjoying it a bit too much and not paying attention to where I was when I topped a small rise and there was the corner and I mean RIGHT there,,,,(@100mph),,,too late to brake,I had no choice but to go for it,,,Didn't help that the pine forest was dense and started 10' from the road.
So go for it I did......dragging hard bits all the way through the corner.
The Busa and Metzler M1's saved my ass that day, rock solid like it was nothing.

Ah this looks like my stator cover after yesterdays track day. Glad you held the line.

Sweet story, cool pic. Its what I've been telling riders for years. Trust in your bike and tires...they will bring you home. We've all heard about riders panicking in an' rd99 type of situation. Don't grab brake, don't chop throttle, just ride it out. If you crash cause you were too fast,it is what it is. Grabbing a big handful of brake is not going to save you. With my Busa and its Frankendstein engineering I dont think I could drag either side before running out of tire. Would be a cool story thou..."I tore the air filter clean off"...
Cool pic @rd99 ..."war wound"...
Rubb.

I know there's no love here for the Gen 1's brakes, but I absolutely love mine! Probably because I've never rode a bike with better stopping power. 2 weeks ago I had a pickup truck turn left in front of me, and those brakes brought me to a stop about 20 feet from impact. I believe a number of factors helped in this situation. Well maintained bike, forks refreshed,(seals, oil), EBC pads, and good tires. I read all the survival skills articles I see, so having just scanned my mirrors before approaching this intersection, I knew there were no cars behind me, and had my brakes covered. Running 45-50, I thought I was toast, and astounded that it stopped that quick. Smooth, no drama. I live in a rural area, always thought I was quite safe, but shows that careless drivers are everywhere. Practice maximum braking from highway speed, cover your brakes, and scan your mirrors! Yeah, I love those big ugly mirrors too!

Your alertness helped you too

braided brake lines will also transform the power of the front brakes too.
when I finally switched to a radial master cylinder that made a huge difference:beerchug:

@rd99 I was a little confused at yer thread title. At first, I thought you met some white guy who couldn't sing...or rhyme.
