Shift Lever Fell Off....

Bought new '05 Busa this May, now with 1800 miles on it. This AM while riding the gear shift lever was suddenly dangling by the linkage. I screwed it on a bit and then at home tightened it with a wrench - but I cannot seem to get it really tight; need a narrow wrench perhaps. Questions:

- Is this typical?
- Should I use loc-tite on the threads?
- Should I just tighten and then keep an eye on it?

Thanks, gang.

Same thing happened to Julie(Nijinsky3). We'll have to check it again to see if it is coming loose again...

That reminds me....another pre-flight inspection for me to do!

I had about 3500 on mine before it fell off though....

Shift lever fell off ?? Wouldn't fancy that.. must check mine

Same thing happened to me this weekend on I64 towards St.Louis. I don't know how long it had been off, I was in sixth gear for a while, then tried to downshift and couldn't find my lever.WTF. Theres a ring clip on the outside that can be taken off to remove the whole assembly, then you should be able to tighten it all the way.

It has happened to several members with the 05s. Loc-Tite that sucker and you won't have that problem again.

Happened with 2 local riders 05 here too. Definately an 05 problem. Letter to Suzuki ?

VERY common on '05's. Caught mine before it fell off.....thanks to a member here!

Loctite the sucker!

Thanks, gang - good feedback. I "loc-tited" it and screwed it down, but if it starts to unthread I will disassemble it and tighten to the fullest.

ok i got an 05 and i dont want this happeneing... can someone post a pic to show exactly what i should be lock-titening...
thanx!

seems to be a big liability for zuki, anyone talked to a dealer to see if it has a recall?

Mine fell off too. I tightened it with the tool kit on the side of the road, rode to a friends house, and tightened it again... this time with some muscle

. Hasn't come loose yet (after 4000 miles, a lot of racing miles, too)

I had the main shaft that the foot shift mounts on start screwing out, and now you guys are saying the rod comes out of the ball that it goes into? Damn, what else falls off?
