Try using synthetic oil (amsoil).(HillbillyTom @ Sep. 26 2007,02:07) The evil 6th gear strikes again.
Loosen the 2 lock nuts on the shifter arm going up to the transmission and turn the threaded rod one way or the other to move the shifter up or down. Don't forget to retighten the lock nuts.
I've given up on 6th gear ever shifting smoothly. You have a double notch type of feeling on the shift, right? It goes in smoother at over 4500 rpm or so but otherwise I just wrench up on the shifter and wait for it to do both notches and then it's in gear. PITA but apparently what it takes to not get the 5-6 neutral.
Hope this helps.. Tom
I found a fresh undercut tranny from Fast by Gast with a billet output shaft for around $700 + core. Shift forks are @ $150 for both, and a local mechanic is putting it all in (and doing motor work) for around $500.(kennym4 @ Sep. 28 2007,06:54) Well I've been riding with my shifter adjusted WAY down for a few days now, and I wish I would have done this sooner !! Shifts seem way shorter ! My foot's only an 8 1/2, and before it felt like I was having to lift my whole foot to finish the shifts.
It costs a couple grand to have the shift forks replaced, right ? How much does it usually cost to have your under cut ?
THANKS FOR THE HELP !!! I'd be lost without you people !!!!!
