For those of you fascinated with sidestand stuff you can see a picture of my sidestand mod at http://www.shermworks.com/standmod.jpg

Sorry, no before and after dyno runs, but the mod does make the H a lot more stable when on the stand.

The mod does not hit anything when retracted. It comes within about 1/4" of the exhaust pipe.

I cut the groove in the plate with a milling machine.

I was experimenting so using the bolt-on method gave me some flexibility. The best thing to do is to weld or the steel piece to the sidestand pad. The part that is critical is that the steel piece extend at least 1/2" past the front of the sidestand pad. It can be flush with the pad at the rear.

I was pretty sure you had milled the piece. Since I do not have a milling machine but I do have a welder I will also use the bolt on method until I find the ultimate size/shape for the plate. Then I will weld that sucker in place!

Does your mod hit anything while in the retracted position? How did you cut the relief in the plate? Thanks for the info!
