silly religious ranting

I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don't agree with Darwin, but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught his theory of evolution.

Life, liberty or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game.

So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game.

"But it's a Christian prayer," some will argue. Yes, and this is the
United States of America, a country founded on Christian principles.

According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect-somebody chanting Hare Krishna? If I went to a football game in Jerusalem, I would expect to hear Jewish prayer. If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad, I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer. If I went to a ping pong match in China, I would
expect to hear someone pray to Buddha. And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit. When in Rome.."

"But what about the atheists?" is another argument. What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized.. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds.. If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer! Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot
do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations.

Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights.

Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep.

Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying. God, help us. And if that last sentence offends you, well..........just sue me.

The silent majority has been silent too long.. it's time we let that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard, that the vast majority don't care what they want.. it is time the majority rules! It's time we tell them, you don't have to pray.. you don't have to say the pledge of allegiance, you don't have to believe in God or attend services that honor Him.

That is your right, and we will honor your right.. but by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away.. we are fighting back.. and we WILL WIN!

God bless us one and all, especially those who denounce Him...
God bless America, despite all her faults, she is still the greatest nation of all.....
God bless our service men who are fighting to protect our right to pray and worship God...
May 2005 be the year the silent majority is heard and we put God back as the foundation of our families and institutions.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I'd have to add that everyday, NONSTOP, I am bombarded with the WORLD's religion populated with people who hate, and backstab, and practice the consuming selfish arts, but I have never whined or sued anybody over it. There is PLENTY of grounds I can assure you! But freedom of expression is a cool thing. That WASN'T from Paul Harvey BTW. If the above truly bothers you, please ask yourself "why?". Really. What is the big deal?

Let the discussion commence!

Just tryin to start something interesting cuz I'm snowed in

I'm with you, man. It always seems that the smallest group makes the loudest noise and the rest of us end up with legislation designed to kowtow to the smallest minority.

It's not just religion. I'm not a gay-basher, to each his own, but do you know that it is estimated that gays make up less than 2% of the population? Yet we are constantly bombarded with gay-rights legislation and protests. There seems to be an unofficial quota for gay content on TV! HELLO....I'm not gay! Nor is 98% of the rest of the population!

It is frightening to see how socialist and liberal this country is getting.

C'mon Greg..I think I got over a foot here on the East coast of Iowa. I love shoveling snow...NOT. I think we had this much last year total in Bellevue. It sucks! Religious reason??I don't know. But I sure the hell can't ride!

Yeah I think the more God in taken out of society the worse society gets.
I think it all started with that seperation of church and state thing.

The thing that sucks is the separation of state and church was created to protect churches. Its intent was to ensure the government did not medal in church affairs and to ensure the government did not control.

There are other countries (and more so when we enacted the separation of state and church) that control their countries religions and THAT my friends is what separation of state and church is about.

It was not intended to keep the church out of government, it was intended to keep the government from controlling the church.

And all this fricken a$$ holes have spun it around to where people believe it is intended to keep church out of government, out of schools etc etc.

Our legal system needs to wake up and smell the crap and clean their act up

And further more!!! All these phucks who are trying to control guns, apparently they don’t know shid about history, or maybe they do.. let me paste in some excerpts for you all.

Quote:

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to posses arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so." -Adolph Hitler 1938

"Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms
is the goal"--(Janet Reno)

Here's a question for anti-gun people:

"Would you be willing to put a sticker on your car window or the front door
of your house saying 'I am an anti-gun person--there are no guns in this
[car/house]'"

Anyone out there that is Anit Guns. prove how much you believe that and have stickers made up with the previously mentioned decree and post them on your car and house. You wifes car, you sons cars, your daughters cars

Thanks WWJD for spooling me up this morning!!!

I totally agree with you......We need to stop feeling guilty.....or letting others make us feel guilty for being part of the majority. Making everyone equal is not what this country is about....having equal opportunity to succeed is...We have gone a little too far trying to help others be/feel equal to everyone else and have lost sight of what made this country great. We've lost sight that hard work and honesty will make you successful, not the purchase of a lottery ticket at the local gas station.

This IS the greatest nation on earth without a doubt and we need to step back and look at the foundation that was laid in order to make us so.

Oh yeah.. here is a fricken post about Australia.... I didnt know about this until last year when I went to a confrence and met this really nice australian guy.. That was when I found out you cannot own a firearm in Australia...

I had dreamed about going to Australia.. now I have no desire at all. Any place that doesnt allow firearms is OFF my CHRISTmas list.

Check this thread out... I didnt know crockodile dundee was killed either until I read the following article

Wow thrasher, that sucks! I missed that story. Hopefully his legacy will be remembered for the cool things he did for his country and not the tragic way he left. But "History is written by those who have hung heros"

The whole part that weirds me about anybody's religion-phobia is that, for the most part, it's harmless, generous, helpful stuff - like that text above said "Saying a pray for SAFETY of others" so, if there IS a God, some total stranger just invoked him to help you out... free for you... out of love. How is that so offensive? And yes, definitely the decline of morals and sanity on our society is a direct and measurable parallel with the reduction of God... from the people in government, from school, from public displays etc whatever. If seeing "In God We Trust" on a penny pisses you off too much, you are free to move out of the country that causes you so much discomfort. Don't like "our war"? Move. Don't want to pay taxes? Move. Don't want someone restricting nakedness on broadcast TV? Move. Okay you get the picture. Or vote.

Life is about SO MUCH MORE that having to feel the electricity of getting pissed off. You know, some people cut themselves to "Feel" alive, but medical folk call THAT insane. Jeez, get a better hobby - like riding a Hayabusa!!! Yeah! Sorry, I'm rambling on this morning.

Hey bill! Lets ride anyway! If you ride over to West Des Moines, I'll go riding with you

Wear your snow boots! It's a freeezin out there!!

I wonder what the wind chill is at 80mph and 4 degrees? I got my bike all cleaned up and oil changed on that ONE really nice day we had a couple weeks back... I'm ready to roll!

It certainly seems that the Politically-Correct pendulum has swung too far to the left. That's part of the reason for Bush getting re-elected I think. However, I wouldn't want to live in a society that dictates the "norm" and doesn't allow for variety and tolerance. There has to be some compromise.

Personally, I'm happy and grateful if people want to pray for my wellbeing (in any language), and the fundamentals of all religions seem to be about cooperation and not harming your fellow man (although extremists totally misinterpret the workshop manuals.)

I'm not an advocate or participant of organized religion, but I'm constantly reminded how it unites other people in positive ways, teaches and reinforces important rules and guidelines, and motivates them to help those less fortunate. That can't be a bad thing.

So Who and Where are these people that whine about seeing other kids 'pray' in school on their own free time, lobby to remove "One nation under God" from the alligence pledge, remove religious songs from school CHRISTmas shows? Man, if I wanted to remove every instance of ANYTHING that offends ME that I see in the world today.... better get me a long sheet of paper! BUT, I allow people to be themselves, whoever that that may be. Tolerance. Really... WHERE are those people? Love to talk to them

It was funny: back in highschool when our superintendant pulled all "religious" music from our CHRISTmas music show, my NON-Religious freinds started a smear campaign about the super being a satanic ahtiest! THEY were severely pissed off the school pulled all those well known, age old, loved songs from the list! what a joke
