Not A Dumbass Question, if you ride hard and like to hit the twisties at anything more than a Lory's pace... Single front rotor really bad idea. Brakes convert kinetic energy into heat, that is where all your energy goes and how you slow down, the transfer or forward motion to heat energy. I am not a rocket scientist but by removing a disc and caliper you are forcing that one little Rotor to handle twice the heat load it was designed for. Really bad idea, and looks pretty natty as well, IMHO.
The folks that have the single rotors allways claim that their bikes stop just right, "No Change"... Um yeah, if they have slammed that Busa so it hovers 2" off the street, added 6" to the swing arm, and have those nice 2" chicken strips on their tires... I am certain they provide all the braking these guys will ever need... But if they actually used the Busa for something other than looking cool with their 20lb chrome wheels, and maybe an occasional blast down the 1/4 mile... they would certainly be missing that second rotor in short order. OK OK Sorry Folks I got off on a bit of rant... I just really don't like anything that hinders performance just for the "look"....
To answer your question more directly my Ausi brother, "does it leave you with enough brakes?" I would say yes, given how those with the single rotors are going to be ridden. NO, if you like to hit the twisties for a few hours, you will quickly cook that single over worked rotor into butter... IMHO
Oh and Welcome to the board...
