Well guys, it's been several months now since I've gotten on the BEAST, and I'm finding myself definitely a WHOLE LOT more comfortable with her and loving her more each day. I love to ride in the mountains here in Arkansas, and I'm getting to where I'm taking the curves at about double the posted speed (25mph curves @ 50mph, 35mph @ 70mph, etc...)

My question is, how am I doing, still being considered a newbie here :cheerleader: compared to you veteran guys out there. Is doubling the posted limit doing pretty well, or do I still have a looooooooooooooooong way to go ???

Give some feedback brothas

Much appreciation!!

Hey Don... I'm sure tryin' brother... need more MnG up here in the mountains to keep me off of this darn laptop

Did I hear double the speed limit?? We LEOs think that is great :rofl:

On a serious note though, the biggest thing isn't how fast you do it but how safe you do it. Don't be a squid, wear your gear and do what you can manage, pushing too hard will get you in a bad spot quickly if you are not ready for it.

To keep friends with the men in blue, I'm strictly speaking the "suggested" limit of the curve only  (I don't have the same mentality when I'm riding down I-40 )

I guess I should've clarified that :rulez:

Oh yeah, almost forgot, I always gear up from head to toe when I go out practicing taming the beast :cheerleader:

sounds like you have the most important things covered! I was just messing with you about the speed.

Sounds like you're doing OK to me. But don't worry about speed. Just work on being comfortable on the Busa....

You and the bike have nothing to prove. Enjoy your ride. Trackdays are the safest place and way to push your skills. It doesn't take long to get in trouble and a minor incident can cost you and others plenty. Please be safe out there.

As long as you keep the rubber side down your doing GREAT! Never go faster then you are comfortable just to impress anyone. I doubt they will donate any skin while yours is all road rashed healing.

Ummm...errr...uhhhh....NO. :super:

Now get out there and get some more miles..... :oldcool:

+1. If you want to push the limits, take her to the track. You should be more concerned about safe and smooth on the street.

Keep in mind even the most skilled riders have fallen not pushing their limits. On public streets you are subject to road debris, dead animals,etc...

Hell I hit a deer long time ago with my 82 gs1100. Long story short I didn't go down, but ended up with deer hair/skin on my brake caliper and busted up fairing. I chalked it up to a lesson learned that only cost me repair bill.

You doing fine, just leave yourself room emergency situations.

Glad you having fun and getting more comfortable riding it.. enjoy!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Be careful though that bike can outperform a lot of the people that are riding them..(that's the story between me and mine) turning public roads into race tracks sometimes leads to problems.
