So as some of you know, my 05 LE (baby) was hit by an Suv late 2006, and I took the insurance money and went to a custom paint sceam and some minor custom bodywork. Well since then everyay has been a battle. The fairings have never really sat correct since then, for example, pre accident I had the genmar/helibar/ZG double bubble set up. Post accident can't get that set up to work. Two different fairing stays I still hit windsheilds (I think it is because I changed my front headlight). My paint is all flacking off now in the spots that I could not pre and left the dealer to finish before I had to move to a diffent state, and I am just slowly watching my bike look like a battle scared wretch. No matter how much sweat I pour into her I keep getting hit with surprises. Well last night when removing my forks (blown seals) I found more crap wrong. I was 2 seconds away from turning the whole bike into a rattle can flat black street figther and being done with it. Anyway I have since calmned myself, and have decided to start a new. I will ride the paint right off the ol gorl this season and this fall we are going back to the sand paper. This really disappoints me because I had my grandfathers air brushed on the tank and I will not be able to afford to save that. I am getting rid of my custom upper and going back to the stock headlight. I am going to a more basic paint scream, something that requires less maintenance and less TLC on my part. I am done. I spend to much time fixing issues and not enough time riding my bike. done done done done done done done. Just wanted to vent to people that would understand. Thanks.

With most custom paint comes the issue of high maintenance. I prefer the proven factory paint schemes since they are more durable and seem to last longer. I use my Busa as a commuter and some long rides too. It gets plenty of attention without a custom paint scheme. If I ever decide to bling it out, I might consider a show type paint job but it would be with a known, proven, painter.

The custom body parts usually have issues with fit and finish too. Of course, it is all about $$$. Perhaps take some $$$ and buy original body parts and put it back to factory stock for a while. Good luck with whatever route you decide!

Sorry to hear. In future try fitting Custom stuff on bike complete before doing the expensive stuff like painting and so forth. Custom stuff often need some modification before it works. Undertails is a prime example. some had them fit like a glove while others curse the install.

Hope this works out for you and promptly. Try and keep a level head. Walk away from it for a bit.(which sound like you had some time made for this)cause when the human body is angered it loses some intelligence. Or was that drugs and alcohol? But wait I often have a beer when working on my baby. It keep me happy so I can stay focused.... I think.... Well it works for me so I'm not gonna break up a good system I got going.

Good Luck!

I feel your pain. It is supposed to be about having fun,,,, not dealing with 1 issue after the next

Before you loose the image on your tank...take a high resolution photo and you may be able to have some vinyl made with the image then on the next bike you could have that put back on the bike and shot with clear coat... Just thinking if you really wanted to save the image.

+1,000,000. Revolution must cringe when he reads some of my posts here. Low maintenance paint here. It gets pressure washed every month or so. A handwashing once maybe twice a tear.

Good luck with your bike :beerchug:

Might be a good idea to get a used set of OEM plastics and start fresh

I already found a good deal on a new upper, which is my "custom part" nightmare. 2 years of battle I am giving up on the upper. I will paint it up with the next paint sceam to match the factory upper just so I can go to shows and show off a bit but I am turning the bike back to user freindly this fall. Sort of. Rev I will be talking to you in the fall.

Hang the tank on the wall and keep the airbrush work, buy new or used tank to sand paper, if you're going full paint, the new/used tank would be small money comparabley.
Can't put a price on memories. :beerchug:

Hang in there man. I think we all fret over these bikes when things don't go just right. When I find myself getting upset over a scratch, rock chip, etc, etc I just remind myself that I bought the bike to ride and enjoy, and not have something else in life to worry about.... Enjoy your ride during these warmer months, and then this winter you can have all the time you need to re-bling it out...
