Okay guys,.........I'm in the final chapter of this "forever and a day" project. A few specs to make the answers more accurate. 2001, with spacer, PC2, FMU (updated), S2000 injectors, GT2860, max of 12 lbs. of boost, liquid to air incooler. Never going to see the track. Just an "escape" from life. Here is the question.

Which is easier to tune for power and driveability? The current combination? OR add a Microtech MT-2 to operate the S2000 injectors as secondaries, dump the FMU for a 1:1 regulator and dump the PC2 for a PC3 USB to operate everything for offboost operation?

As always,.......facts please! Those opinion replies can make for a long post! Thanks again guys!!

I have read that an FMU is okay up to about 8lbs, but not really over that. I haven't used an FMU. I went straight to the GM 1:1 and have no complaints. My system is working great. (I am running ECU Editor though)

First of all, get the PCIIIUSB, but DO NOT dump the PC2. Zero out the fuel map on the PC2, and use it only for pulling some timing out. Use the new PCIIIUSB for your fuel mapping. Set your idling fuel pressure to 30 pounds, and with your modified FMU, you should see fuel pressure max at just over 60 lbs on the dyno - which is plenty for the bigger injectors. The PCIIIUSB will have plenty of range to map both off- and on-boost. If you are going to run one level of boost (12 lb), you will be fine. If you plan on running multiple levels of boost, then I would also recommend the Dynojet Hub with a GM map for boost-referenced fueling. I have done this same setup on many of the early models, and properly mapped they have perfect driveability and more than adequate range for fueling at higher boost levels than what you are planning . . .

Thanks for the recommendation, Frank. After rattling it around in the ol' brain,......I'm thinking keep the PC2 to control offboost operation,....add the Microtech MT-2 and 1:1 reg to control a set of S2000 injectors as secondaries. Seems like less chance of mechanical error. (FMU) What'cha think??

I thought you were dealing with one set of S2000 injectors in the stock position. I would rather run secondaries and control them with a Microtech, if you have that option. And Pinky seems to know something about your setup that I don't know . . . .

interfacepnp.webs.com

sorry i prefer this route as it will also be on my wifes gsxr 1k with a set of 525 or 725 cc high imp inj ;)
1:1 reg and built in boost controller and ing kill and ing control and all sorts of extra goodies ;)

I forgot you were Megasquirt Man!! Sometimes there are several paths to the same destination . . .:beerchug:
its not my setup but a good friends
and its gone a far way lately
have had a couple prostreets testing it lately
i feel for the price there isnt anything better in its price range out there

Pinky, how about some details? Is this a setup to drive secondaries, or are we talking standalone? It would be nice to have a choice that doesn't include a $1,000 box on one hand, or on the other hand, a crappy Sh*t Second box . . . or $6-8,000 and a subscription . . .

Believe if you goto the link Pinky posted he is talking about the new PNP Standalone powered by Microsquirt. Also looking at the site alot of neat options like wireless link setup from ECU to laptop for tuning. If I do go turbo down the road this will definately be a strong consideration, an all in one box.

Thanks, Frank! Sorry I wasn't more clear on the setup. I already have a set of S2000 injectors in hand. I was tossing around different ideas as to use them. It appears that using them as secondaries with a Microtech is the best route. What is a popular 1:1 regulator?? Someone mentioned a GM 1:1......not sure of the application it was used on or part number. After knowing this,......I'm ready to get busy ordering stuff!! BTW.....PM me the price on a Microtech MT-2. Thanks!!

wolfman is correct the list of options and such is on the site
he also has a secondary setup that he doesnt talk much about
its real nice too

the standalone actually runs off the MS2 platform

the microsquirt he uses more for secondaries
but he does prefer the standalone (plug and play factory harness) and it does run the stock dash (first standalone to do that) on gen 1,2 and newer gsxr 1k's
