Some people

Riding the other night. Saw a guy on a Harley. Big high ape hanger bars, tats, scraggly goatee. No biggie exept for the little kid on the back of the bike.

Kid was wearing his gi (evidently on his way home from karate class), an oversized, chrome, German army type helmet, and sandals. Kid was MAYBE 4 yrs old.

Sweet Jesus, what are these people thinking?

That ill-fitting helmet would probably do more damage to the kid in case of an accident, not that his tiny body was going survive even the most minor get-off....

Maybe it's just me - getting cranky as I get older - but you have to have a license to drive, to cut someone's hair, to give tatoos - but you can have kids all day long and treat them worse than livestock, make taxpayers foot the bills, and THAT goes unregulated.

Anybody want to bet that this clown had insurance?

It's a good thing I don't carry a badge - this guy would have been arrested for wreckless endangerment of a child. Even if I couldn't make it stick...

i dont know  look ant rsd and yamahor, rsd got his license to breed  and  look how yamahor turned out

have to agree its one thing IMO to be an idiot but to let a kid get on a bike wearing next to nothing cmon are kids look at what we do and they mimic it. Im a EMT/Fireman and go to bike accidents all the time and let me tell ya how we feel about picking up kids with road rash or better yet I should probably just shut up.

When I was stationed at Fort Polk, LA I was on my way to the Super wal Mart In DeRidder. It was mid afternoon on a friday and had to be at least 105 in the shade, typical summer weather in Louisiana. I was stopped at a light and when I looked over there was two people driving a Chevy S-10, and in the back was a guy who was at least 300lbs, no shirt, bald head, and in his arms was a baby. These fools were driving down the road this way. My second thought, the first being look at these a**holes, was thank god my wife isn't in the car because she would have gotten out of the car and started in on these people and probably started a brawl. I've shaken my head for years over this topic, how people just have children when they aren't responsible enough to take care of themselves. Ruins it for all the great parents out there who do a fantastic job raising their children to become responsible adults and products of society...

See it all the time here in So. CA.

My Brother in law quit his job as an EMT after seeing so many traffic accidents where the woman was driving with her kid in her lap. I hate to even imagine that.

not that i am condoning anyone particular persons actions or point of view....but dayumm.

when i was little our parents were able to leave us in the car alone while they shopped (for quickie trips).

we rode in the back window of the car....yup, up on the deck...in the rear window....sometimes.

there was no such thing as helmets for kids on bikes....hell we used to have contests to see who could crash the best!

ya know what...some people make it...and some don't...that's what life is.

if it didn't kill ya, it made ya smarter for next time. so many people "baby" the little people of today that they aren't going to know what it's like to break an arm...or get a bloody nose...or even how to avoid a lawn dart!

in kindergarden I walked to private school just over 3/4 mile away. we didn't question it...whether snowing or blazing hot.

I know that I went for quick motocycle rides with my dad...without a helmet...and it's just how you learn.

It's getting easier to tell who the younger adults are these days by the protest they start cause some child was seen or photographed facing the wrong way strapped in a safety seat......safety seat? lol.... we were driving trucks on dirt roads before the age of toda'y kids are being allowed in the front seat.

I personally thank lawers for most of it....the simple fact that those spineless worms would sue anyone for any reason and make a living at other peoples' misfortune. naturally, everyone seems to want a quick get rich plan...so lawers press lawsuits...insurance pays out...rates go up...new federal laws are made (but do you ever notice that rates almost NEVER go down? They claim "catastrophic claims" as their justification.

bottom line is...if your ticket gets punched...then so be it.
if you want to go around this world concerning yourself about "what-if".....and what joe-blow is doing...or how they raise their children, then you really need to focus a little more inward.

the human race will keep going....even if a few mishaps take place....or a few stupid people put themselves in harms way. It's mother nature's way of "cleaning house".

I agree, but not just the lawyers. Mass media plays a huge part in all of this as well.

I was raised on a farm where by the age of about 12 or 13, mom would tell me to take the truck down to the little corner store and get something or another. No one gave it a second thought. Now a parent is going to jail if the kid rides his/her skateboard w/o a full body armor suit.

JMHO

Im gonna second your thoughts . And ad some . Goverment is to involved in my personal life who are they to tell me that i need to wear a helmet or buckle my seat belt that is my right might no be a smart one but it is my choice to make. Easy fix if you are involved in a wreck and are not wearing a helmet or seat belt then you as a person are full responsible for all medical bills en cured . If it is a child that is different there should be a law in place that once the child is old enough to male his or her own choices then it is there responsibility until then they must wear either device. I choose to wear a helmet at all times also pants and jackets my kids are not allowed to ride with out pants or helmets and a jacket..
When i was growing up we rode in the back of a pickup with a camper on trips jumped around in back seat of car no bike helmets skate helmets and the like we turned out pretty good..
How can the government tell me and my family what to do if that cant enforce the laws they have on the books now..
I say hold everyone financially responsible for the choices . instead of the tax payers . Insurance cost ,Doctors fees have all got way out of hand .(another topic)

Yes I am jumping around and not wording correctly just cant get my ideas down fast enough. Tired of the gOVERMENT TELLING ME WHAT I CAN DO CANT DO WHAT I CAN PLANT CANT PLANT. How much i must pay for there taxes to help with the people in africa ,bosnia, and everydamn where else.. Yet you can walk down any city street and see Vets homeless .. I say clean up your own backyard before you XXCK with mine ... Sorry
