Some seat questions - only care about comfort.

So...I am looking at a "new" seat and I think I have it narrowed down to 3. I do like the Tobin/New Image look; but they put me in an uncomfortable riding position...

Anyway, I've been considering the Suzuki gel seat (and are they silver or gray?), the Saddlemen (not sure between Tech and Sport), and a Russell Day-Long. Thoughts, hints, suggestions, comments?

Thanks,
Zach

Your Gen 1 right? I'm sure you are gonna get many different opinions on this question. I'm right at 6' 170lbs and on my gen 1 I have had/tried most except the Saddlemen. Corbin,Tobin/New Image & others that have been reworked(not specifically for me though) and the best/most comfortable for me has been the factory gel. Gen 2 gel I don't care for, but for the 1 it feels like cash to my azz. can ride all day no problem whatsoever. I have seen them in a silver/black combo but all I have got are the black/black with the sorta like neoprene insert in the top over the gel pad. Heard a lot say they get hot, but I've never ran into that. Honestly any seat that sits in the hot sun for any time especially a black one is gonna get warm. I'd say if you don't want it hot when you return then cover it before you leave.

And that's my opinion.

I've got a couple Tobin/New Image seats if that's what you decide on. I keep trying others but just can't get the feel and always go back to the gel. And for the Corbin's I guess you just need a bigger azz than mine cause they always feels like a big wide piece of plywood to sit on to me.

Maybe it's just that being 1-2" lower down into the bike I don't care for. ???

I'm 6'2"

The Tobin reduced leg room too much and removed padding.

The Corbin moved my ass down and backwards while rotating my hips backwards. I didn't find that comfortable unless I was sitting upright, leaning forwards with my hands on the bars I felt cramped. The shape of the seat fit my ass nicely though.

The Suzuki gel seat for me, provided the best compromise. A slight increase in leg room, firmer with better support than the stock seat and it's still easy to hang off on, not having the sculpted edges of the Corbin or the dished seating of the Corbin and Tobin.

I took the gel seat to an upholstery shop and had it covered in a leather pattern vinyl.

your comfort may vary...

Here is a seat i just made for myself. I bought the foam shaped it, Bought the leather, And had a upholstery friend of mine install it. I did it for under three hundred dollars. It feels great on my Arse.

Id rather call a Mason to do some.custom brick work for a seat rather than use the gen1 gel seat, thing is a rock! I tobin is a bit less cushion than a factory seat, but with with the contours, I prefer it.

I had memory foam in my factory seat and I love it.

I was undecided about gel or foam and the deciding factor was. If the gel sits in the sunlight very long it gets very hot. Most people referred to it as lava. I went with memory foam and have ridden in all weather with no problem.

I did have to change to the lower pegs after getting the seat because the softer seat lowered my position and cause my thighs to cramp up. However, even with cramping legs I could go 400 miles easily before my butt felt sore
