And after 8+ years of watching that show, that was the ending they gave us?! I said a few choice words to the TV (I am pretty sure the inanimate object shuttered at my foulness) then went to bed...

I want off of those hours back...stinkin' HBO

Anyone else watch the series finale?

I thought it was a great ending LOL people thought their cable was messed up what could be funnier than that

Yup - I think they all got mowed down after the cameras were off....

Mike kept saying at every turn "something's going to happen" and by the end, when the screen went black, I said "yep, something happened" and just laughed, cursed and went to bed

It was unfulfilling after so many years of continual drama...but hey, I guess they could always reunite for a move

52 weeks x 1 hour x 8 years = 17.3333 days of your life you will never recover ;)
never saw one of them.

'Eh, they did take a year or two off, so it's not quite that bad

That show wouldn't be for you...too much sex and violence, just like the nightly news

I stayed up to watch that new show's premier - talk about weird.... But I'll watch next week to see what's what.

You saw it too 'eh Bob?! LOL Nice, huh? Jeez...

LCB - we TiVo'd that next show...no clue what it's about, but I guess we'll find out soon enough

It's weird but it keeps your attention without answering any questions so you have to keep watching. Good cast, some salty language at times too, FYI...

I felt the same way, very dissapointed... I didn't want to "use my imagination" like some people felt was Chase's way of letting the audience figure out their own ending. I wanted to see it. Here's something my friend sent me to help you figure out the ending.. And I'm assuming the DVD will have alternate endings.
************************************************************

Tony's dead. (Sorry but this is going to be a long comment.)

A) First episode of this season Bobby says you don't hear it when you're shot.

B) Second to last episode of this season, Tony flashes to Bobby saying you don't hear it when you're shot.

C) The entire story arc was about Tony - when Tony's gone, the arc is done.

D) In the diner, every time someone walked through the door, the perspective changed to Tony's as he looked up

E) After the last bell jingle, just as the perspective changed to Tony's everything went black and silent - as though the person whose perspective we were to shift to was no longer alive

F) The cat was a reminder that Tony killed Chris, and had Adriana killed. The cat was a reminder that Tony's a bad guy - who has it coming.

G) There was so much symmetry between Phil's execution in front of his family and Tony's last moments

H) We all know how much Godfather III ruined the Godfather movies. I think the focus on Meadow was a reference to the Godfather. David Chase didn't end it the way Godfather III ended. This time the boss gets killed.

I) Every other episode ended in music during the credits. This one had no music because Tony's dead.

J) Episode titles have always meant something. This episode's title referred to Bobby's gift of the gun to Tony. When he gave it to him he made the comment about how everything would just go silent when you were shot.

K) The ending was so incredibly brilliant. We all felt what it was like to be Tony in those final five minutes. We all felt nervous, anxious, just as he must have felt. After being absorbed into Tony's experience, we were left with silence and blackness like death because...

Tony is dead.

So many are taking the ending to say the opposite; that Tony ended up right where he started, unsure of the future...

I don't know...the entire episode was BORING to me...nothing was tied up, Jr. was a zombie, no closure on Silvio's condition, did he live/die?  Only certainty was that we know what happened to Phil
smile.gif
I told Mike 1/2 way through "this is so boring" and I think he was just hoping it would get great, so he kept saying "no, I like it", but in the end, he was just saying "no, they can't just end it like that!"

I did see the same thing with the cat though...

So, that much I agree with...

Honestly, I was unimpressed with the last two seasons (6 & 7). This season was ramping up, as usual... but left me bored like you said. The past few episodes were good, but it'd better be, its the final episodes EVER!!

The first few seasons were awesome, I think they knew they had a cash-cow and just dragged it out.

I agree with that...when Tony was shot, that seemed to start the boring episodes; I don't think the show ever really "recovered" after that was drawn out so long...

It started with a bang and ended with a whisper...not at all what you'd expect from a mob show
laugh.gif

Exactly.... those episodes when he was shot from his Uncle were "interesting", but boring... i'm not into the whole symbolism thing, yeah its cool to read about certain things the next day on the internet but I'm not one to catch the symbolism when it happens. I want action!!!
Like this stuff - Sopranos-symbolism

And I was just waiting for Adrianna to return at some point!!!

Symbolism is for the artsy films that win Oscars, NOT an HBO series...I watched because I didn't have to think or tie it all together
laugh.gif
It was just in your face and shocking for a while...a wild ride...

...then the wheels on the ride fell off... LOL

And I too think they actually intended to bring Adrianna back, but never did...writers forgot or something...she was showing up in Carmela's life, visions of her, questions of where she was, etc? It's like they kept teasing us about so much, then dropped it...

Have another David Chase

Well, either way its done.... I'll miss the show, even the boring episodes were better than 1/2 the crap that's on TV now.

I even had my Soprano's jersey on for the last episode.
