Spark Plug/Ticking Noise?

Greetings, all. I have developed a ticking noise that I'm a little concerned about on my '99, but it doesn't sound like it's mechanical. It almost sounds like a spark plug wire is not down on the plug all the way & the spark is finding another place to 'light up'. With no plug wires to worry about on this model, is it possible that the coil/cap is defective on one or more cylinders? I've had no noticable running problem, but before I wash down a cylinder by not having fire in the hole, I come to you all for advice. I feel like an idiot, but I've not had the plastic off yet to see what's what. :( Thanks

Have you had the Cam Chain Tensioner recall work done. If no, get it done NOW. A failing cam chain tensioner will click until it finally trashes the engine's topend.

Yes, the t/chain tensioner recall has been performed. I'm the second owner on this, so I've not had the pleasure of experiencing it making new/out of the ordinary noises as it grows older. This sounds so much like a loose plug wire that I wondered if anyone had experienced problems w/the coil/cap.

My 2000 sat for 2 weeks. I finally got to ride yesterday :-) I started it up and heard a ticking sound (like a valve lifer noise). It didn't go away for about 5 min.
It seemed louder just off idle, like 1300 rpm's or so. Kinda worried me, but it went away. I hope this is not a problem!!
