My busa is stock only a K&N filter on it so far other than some misc parts which would not effect the speed to gear ratio.  Anyways the other day I had a chance to push my bussa up to 180mph at least that's what the speedo said and it did feel fast too very fast, but I was still in 5th gear.  Will a stock bussa do 180mph in 5th gear?

Generally, sportbike speedo indicate faster than actual ground speed. The "Thrill Factor"??

The speedo on a Busa is out between 7- 10%
buy a speedohealer or a yellowbox to correct it
in my opinion the speedohealer is the best
more range, just as robust, cheaper and has a top speed recall function

manatrader,
your speedo may be off by 5mph, but thats at about 70 mph....now figure the error as a % and not just 5mph all the way across the speedo since speedo error is generally a linear thing. at about 150 on the speedo, your really only at about 140, which is now 10 mph off...now figure 7-8% error at the governed 186mph indicated and your only around 174-175 in reality. gear and tire height changes also affect the speedo accordingly.

Speedo error or not, an indicated 180 mph is damn fast. I had mine read 155 as I was blowing the doors, if it had had any, off a GSXR 600. I'm a bully! Where were you able to go that fast? I use a lightly traveled toll road, but the spots where you can fly with less risk of being pulled over and shot on site, don't exist.

get a GPS and see your true speed, my speedo read 124 but my GPS showed a top speed of 113. the mileage is correct but the speedo is a joke, the faster you go, the more off it gets.
