My speedo quit working!! It would work on occassion but then it completely quit. My guess is a loose wire. I took apart the side panel and checked the wire going to the sprocket. It seemed to be fine. I haven't took the front off cause i don't know how. Any help or suggestions!!!

what year 2008?
I see Quite a few of these on the Boards.

The new head unit must be made in Mexico or China!

Do you have a SpeedoHealer or other mods installed? What year bike?

Im having the same problem. I was on the highway and i look down and im doing 0 mph. I found out that the speed rotor on the drive shaft, next to the front sprocket, all the teeth were broken off. Some how the speedo chewed up the teeth.

I was getting off the highway later that night and I was doing 180+. It felt good going that fast again.

Take your front sprocket cover off. It's 4 8mm bolts and you can also remove your speedo sensor from the cover with a 4mm allen head. You'll need a 10mm to remove the bolt on the shifter pivot to get it out of the way, you can mark it with a black marker to put it back in the same spot.

There is a castle style nut that is bolted to the output shaft after the sprocket and the sprocket nut. It has teeth on it and the sensor counts it as it turns. I bet you that is broken.

The reason why you were getting a speed recording every once in a while is because some of the pieces were getting spun in the cover and the sensor was picking it up.

Here is a link to the part on ronayers.com http://www.ronayers.com/browsep....ers.com

I bought a used speedo from andyman66, thanks by the way, and ordered the speed rotor this morning.

Thanks!! Do I have to take the side panel off to get to it?? Since I didn't install the stuff, all I did is buy it! There is a part under my rear seat that has like 6 little switches. I believe this is part of my speedohealer. U know what position it should be in?

You'll have to take your left fairing off to get to it.

All the dip switches on the speedo healer should be down.
