Speedo pulse

This started immediately after I installed an undertail with LED Rear End. I have checked the speed sensor, cover and connections. I was wondering if the general concensus is a Rec/Reg that was marginal, and now having to deal with this extra amperage is on it's way to the junk pile. The bike only has 3500 miles on it.
Just wondering if this is the correct line of thinking.

Thanks

When my needle was jumping it was because I had a cracked countershaft cover. It appears that is not your issue but could be worth a check.

I've done everything the mechanic has told me to check and still no love on the bouncing needle. Counter shaft bolt, sensor plug, battery terminals, and ground wire...non-of this helped. One thing I did notice last night was when it wouldn't start after I put the countershaft cover on. I was only able to crank it 2 times, and the 3rd time it turned over about twice and just gave up.....no turnin' over. I let the battery recover for about 5 minutes and it caught fire on the 4th try. Anyone know how to test a rec/reg to see if it's doing it's job

I had that problem but in my case it was caused by a bad connection at the Speedohealer front connection. Of course if you dont have a Speedohealer this ain't gonna help you!!

This thing is killin' me. I dont' know if I need a mechanic or a voodoo priestess.

Its the speed sensor thingy, whats going on is the bolts coming loose,Suzuki forgot to Loctite this dand thing,it will come out and when it does,it'll brake the sprocket cover (case). From the voice of experience.NJ.:;):

I checked that last night and it was good and tight. I called the shop today and they can't even get the bike in to be looked at till May 2nd. It's a small shop but do a crazy business. This is just frustrating

Oh S!!t....I took the rear lights off and left them unhooked. Battery fully charged from charger. Fired her up and in neutral the speedo bounced from 0 to 30 back and forth but when I turned on the high beam the bouncing was stunted to only 0 to 10. Turn off the high beam and it went to swingng wildly again. WTF is going on here???

Go to your negitive battery cable,,, about 6 inches away from the negetive battery post,,, there should be a connector. It should be a single black wire with a white trace on it. Make sure that it connected, thats the harness ground. If that doesn't take care of it, my 04 had the same problem. The speed sensor tested fine but as soon as the bike was running it would mess up! Also make sure the battery charger is not plugged in while you test anything. Some chargers emit noise into the bikes electrical system.
Hope this might help!

Thanks !  I'll give that a shot before work tomorrow.
Please keep us posted if you find the solution to this problem. I have checked and double checked (even got a new speed sensor under warranty last year) all that has been discussed in this thread so far. My 05 speedo has had this occasional hiccup since day one that only occurs at speeds below 50MPH and only happens every minute or so. My Busa is completely stock.

Are you sure the dealer installed a sensor,,, thats what they told you. Did you see the sensor that they removed?

I had the same problem when I changed my countershaft sprocket. The speedo would jump when it was on the rear stand with the tire barely turning when cold. Then when I was riding it would pulse erratically. It quit after a week or so. I never did know what it was.???

I found another dealer about 30 minutes away so she's going over there tomorrow. He can at least get the bike in the shop right away, but still may take a week or so. He's going to have his wiring guy give it a shake down. Thank goodness he can get me in...I was about to pull out what little hair I have left. I'll give a full report when I get her back. Thanks for everyones help. Now that I can't ride for awhile I guess it's back to the bar

I even installed the new sensor myself when it came in.
But guess what? You're the man GIXERHP! Per you suggestion, rather than just wiggling the connection, I disconnected that negative ground connector and made sure the contacts were clean and reconnected it and whalaaa.......no more bouncing speedo needle! Thanks man, I owe you a Corona!
