Spongy brakes?

I'm not sure that I really have a problem, but my brakes just feel spongy lately...I noticed it on Sunday during a ride. I'm on the Busa again today and just got back from a lunch time ride to see if I'm imagining things or not...

I loved the braking on the Busa the second I got on it...far cry from what I had on the Harley...but, having just clicked 4000 miles on Caesar, I'm wondering if the brakes are posing a problem for me...

They just don't feel like they grip as well...brake fluid is fine, and I'm due to tear in to the Busa soon for some routine maintenance/oil change, so I'll take a look at the brakes...

Any ideas?

Might wanna make sure ya didn't get air in the lines somehow.....bleeding is cheap

Maybe switch to some decent braided lines also.

Definitely bleed the brakes, it is easy to do and that should cure your problem as long as you don't have a leak or other malfunction. Also switching to SS braided lines makes a huge difference and is money well spent. I did this to mine and it was quite the change, under $150 for dual full length fronts (+1 1/4" for Genmar riser), rear, and clutch (+1 1/4"), along with SS bleeders and banjo bolts.

Damn JT2, you must have a migraine by now! All of that typing! Thanks for the link...

We'll do guys...I'll certainly bleed the lines and start pricing some new braided lines (ask for those for Mother's Day perhaps?!)

Thanks again!!!

I went with Galpher braided lines & hi pro pads also synthetic fluid = big difference!

dang good stuff!

hey Hawaii, where did you get your stuff? & which synthetic fluid? I think my brakes are on the way out, they sound like they are rubbing the rotors up front and squeek when I come to a stop. I've been looking at SS lines for a while, just not sure what to get

Just had the excat same problem, after 1200 miles of enthusiastic use the brakes lost their 'new' feel...answer goodrich hoses....all is back to normal..the standard hoses must be complete sh*t
