and bleeding clutch and brakes.
First, I bought the EBC HH pads because of the almost universal praise here on the org. Installation on the front was easy thanks to the shop manual (haven't done the rear yet). I wasn't sure what the original pads would look like when I pulled them, but they look practically brand new at 6200 miles!
I did the bedding process according to the pinned instructions above. With about 75 miles on them I'll have to say that they do seem to have alot more bite than the stockers. They also make a big racket, as someone described like cicadas on crack when you're cruising at highway speeds! I'm hoping this will diminish over time. The combination of bleeding the brakes with the new pads has given the lever a much more solid feel too. 1+ finger braking with stock lines.
My busa has always run hot when stuck in traffic. Before now I made one attempt to get air out of the system when I changed the coolant last year, but without success apparently.
With this coolant change I was much more aggressive. I rocked the bike back and forth, and squeezed the hoses going to and from the radiator with the engine running. Sure enough I saw air bubbles coming up to the filler neck on the radiator. On my first trip to work afterwards I got stuck at a stuck traffic light. Before this the temp gauge would have climbed above the half way mark. But it stayed right on the half way mark with the fan cycling on and off. Ambient temp around 55F. Ill have to keep an eye on this, but I think the problem may be solved.
