Finally got to the track last night.  Very dissapointed in the runs..but it is always a learning experience.  I posted earlier that I thought the shorter gearing (43-44 tooth) was hurting my performance last year so I went back to 1 down and stock rear (40T)....guess I was wrong.

I felt last night that the bike was dropping too many rpms. With the 40T was 2K below redline in 4th at the trap. With the 44T I was right at the limiter.

Best I could manage last night was a 9.90 at 140.  60' were 1. 65's  with the 1/8 at 6.4 @114mph.

Putting the 44 back on to try next week.

Well - put the 44 back on last night (now 16/44).  Bike felt slow, but 1/8 times were actually better than with the 40T nad the 60' were down a bunch....with 1/4 being about the same.  I think it is too much gear for the 1/4 am going to try a 16/42 combo.

Here's the results:

1.617 60'   6.343 1/8 114.87   9.783 @ 144.72
1.626 60'   6.375 1/8 114.21   9.843 @ 139.67

do you have any pics of you or the bike. im a regular racer at gateway. bike is outta town right now,but when it gets back ill be back out there again. i run a 16/40 and im at 11k at the traps in fourth.

How are you holding 11K without bumping the rev limiter? With the 16/44 tooth  I'm at right at 10,600 in 5th.  I ordered a 42, which I think will be a better combo.

My bike is silver/grey 03 - nothing crazy.  Yours?

I ran against a black strectched Busa last week, he turned a 8.2 at 171....smokin....

Either an extended ECU or going by the stock tach that it not known to be accurate. My tach is off about 4-5%compared to my logger and shift light.

I'm shifting at 10400 and going through the lights right at 10200 -10300 with a 16/42. My mph is usually right at 140.  You are going to have to make the 4-5 shift. I’m not sure if the 42 is what you want. You may need a 16/41 (2.563 ratio) if you want to stay in 4th or a 14/43 (2.688) for 5th.    For comparison 16/42 – 2.625 and your 16/44 is a 2.750.  Your 44 with a 17 may put you closer (2.588) if you don’t have chain issues. I’m pretty sure the 17/44 won’t fit the stock arm and chain. The 17/43 is pretty much it with a good chain.

mine hits the limiter at 11200.  that strecthed black busa sounds like a quicktime bike that eric rides.  my bike is the one in my sig flying across the screen. my motor is bone stock but thats about all that is stock on it. i have just about every bolt on mod there is. some that most dont even know about.

I've got a 6 over extension. I already ordered the sprocket..so I'll try it. I'm topped out now in 5th with the 44 so I guess that is about perfect sure don't want to make a shift 50 feet from the trap. If I start spraying in 2nd and possibly third I may be able wind the bike a little quicker and the 42 may be the ticket.

SUPERBUSA - looking forward to meeting you. Should be there tonight if all goes well at work today.

quite likely i will be there tonight with a friend. i wont be racing but he will be. he has many toys so who knows what hen will be driving. if you know charles and janie, they can point me out to you.

Made it down last night ..things were slow with oil spills. Got in two back to back 9.50s with a little spray in 2nd and 3rd. 122 in the 1/8 and 145/149 mph in the 1/4. Finally got a 1.5X 60', so guess not too bad a night.
