Sreening in the Fairing

Yo Fellows,

I've seen some pics of bikes on here latley with the screened in fairings, you know, the same screen that is on your stock busa's under your front turn signals?
Where do you guys get that screen. I'm sure it's not too hard to install, I just can't find it anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated.

I got mine from AutoZone, but you can get it at any auto parts store of home and garden shop.

Any auto parts place should have it. It's an APC part, so look in that section. I looked at the gutter stuff, but IMO this looks much better and more durable.

APC Grill screen is shiny and you can get it in Polished, Anodized Blue or Red and I think Black. Gutter Guard is dull but more durable. I like the APC, I have had both.

APC Grill screen is what I have. Bought it on recommendation and wasn't smart enough to think about gutter screen until the install. I like it though and would choose it again even though it is a little pricey!

I used the gutter screen from Lowes, painted it black with high-temp engine enamel. Turned out very good. I sure its much less expensive than the APC stuff.

Something to consider when installing them...learned this from mctrull!

Bow them out a bit to match the front screens near your front signals...adds a nice touch over just laying them flat...not as easy, but they do look good...and mind the directional patterns when installing them; make sure they match!

Good point. I got that hint from BACharles and I think it provides some depth to the screens.

I used a rubber mallet to bow the ones I made for my dad.

A word of caution, take great care to not flex the body panels when fitting the screen, or you will crack the paint. My dads cracked and peeled at the bottom of the big opening (just below the tail of the kanji - see VaBusas pic above for reference).

Good luck

The best adhesive for the screens is an automotive adhesive called "GOOP." You can purchase it at most auto parts stores. It comes in reddish colored tube. It's clear like silicone, but that stuff holds them snuggly. I once had to do some body work, and they had to be removed. My painter had to literally grind them off.

Also, being clear in color can cover up any boo boo's you may make. Speaking of "Boo Boo's"... where's Michelle at?
