well i blew up my original motor..dropped a valve..built a nasty 1397 motor..got junk parts so i traded it off for a stock motor with 3k miles

just got it all installed..no codes..and tried to fire it..almost started but fouled the plugs almost instantly(strong fuel smell)

let it sit overnight and came back today and tried to start it ..nothing..puffs black smoke on each crank and kinda backfires through the throttlebodies.,mainly the #3 throttlebody

everything looks hooked up right..so i have no clue..

ive had this bike for 4 months and ive only rode it for 1..and this is my first bike..so its really depressing

any ideas?

If there is a strong fuel smell might be a stuck injector. Make sure the spark plugs are tight and gaped properly and that the coils are pushed down firmly and plugged in.

theyre tight and plugged in...ill have to check the injectors tomorrow my bikes at a buddys shop and hes gone for the day

What year is the bike, and what year is the the motor you put in?

Then make sure the ground is tight, also check the cam sensor, and make the plug is seated properly!

Then make sure you have spark, also confirm that you have good battery voltage!

Stock is on a starter bolt, but you should be fine!

found the problem..my bike is a 01..where the stator cup mounts to the crank is diff ..we put a 01 on there and it fired right up!!! yayay!!

thanks man.going ot pick up the bike in bout a hour..yay!!! its been 4 months..and ive only owned it for 5 months lol

GIXERHP is a tremendous contributor to the members of this site. He comes to the Bash and works day and night on other peoples bikes.

im glad he was on here..cause i wouldnt of had to pay for those diagnostics if i didnt check them already..thanks again guys!
