Stereo Install progress

I don't want to try imagining what a five inch would have been like trying to install with the limited space trying to mount it on the underside.

Well the U-channel hides the cut of the hole saw phenomenally.

The screen material worked out beautifully. I hot glued it
to the underside of the fairing and it came out perfect
believe it or not. Shaping the actual template of the screen
took a few minutes, and then I just used the first as a template
to make more. This isn't competition quality, but by no means is
it broke ass lookin either.

I'd give it an 8 out of 10.

It looks just like the picture I posted with the speaker in it.
Now I just have to wait for Fedex to deliver my amp today to
wire this up and give it a test run with the $50 Pioneers.
Then I just have to wait for my 5.25" components to arrive.  

150W shouldn't be TOO crazy....but it could be enough for now.

BTW, where did you get your handlebar mount for your phone and ....is that a minidisc player???

Dude, this photo was taking a little over two yrs ago.  

 I made the mount and plate, materials purchased from Home Depot. I mini dish was replace with two other players. The finally player was using my PSP. With the PSP I was able to play and watch my music videos when riding of sitting in a lot with my peeps.

Here's a photo of my PSP screen showing one the TV music cable station I would use to copy music. Other sources for music I use are BET,VH1 and so on. Also, I would copy and download some of my favorite old tv shows from TV land and movies rented.

Prior to getting my Street Pilot I use my PSP a map guide.

They're pretty sweet. Not too savvy on them myself as I'm a PC gamer type.

I am really not using my psp to its full potential.

For the mount I used some 2" flat stock steel, and piece of flat metal cut to size. Everything was cut and bent the s according to the size I needed. The plate was applied to the arm using J&B weld with no problems.

I am really not using my psp to its full potential.

Niether do I.

I bought if for entertaiment purpose's. Same with my PS3. I don't play game on them, so I guess I don't use my to its full potential eitheir.

I ended up making a Kanji template and installed a 2nd layer of mesh screen
with a Kanji logo on it for the hell of it with black spray paint. Looks pretty smooth.

I just got back from Lowes with my wire and Y connectors to wire up my amp now.
Should be testing the sound tonight.

I'm glad you added the second screen, looks alot better. What's holding the speaker in place from moving around or from sliding out. The left speaker my stand a better chance of staying put but the right side may give you a problem without any type of mount.

Finally finished the sumbit*h!!!!!!!
These $50 Pioneers are fairly decent for testing purposes but
the Components are absolutely a necessity for higher volume tunage
without any crackling. It sounds pretty damn good as is, but I
like my sh** loud as hell.

Mind you these video's were taken with a Sony Cyber-shot camera and
the microphone in these isn't all that great so .....but I started
the bike in the 1st video testing the stereo BEFORE installing it
to give you an idea of the loudness of the stereo vs cruising RPM speed/sound.

2nd video is the completed product. Took about 5 hours today in between
running to Home Depot to get screws and Radio Shack to get a LED switch
and a Y cable stereo to RCA. This pic is how I mounted the amplifier,
yes, it's 1000x easier if you just pull off the nose of the bike unless
you're built like an Ethiopian.

FYI- when loading these video's allow about 2min's for the video to buffer properly
or you'll be watching a REAL choppy video, trust me I had to wait to watch it myself.

My Ipod battery died, so I had to use hers for this one.
I start the bike too to give you an idea of how loud the system
is compared to 3-4000rpm cruising speed since the camera
mic on my Sony Cybershot isn't all that great for capturing sound.

I used a crappy pair of Philips ear buds for $20. Sound great, but
the helmet jams them into your ears and they really start to hurt after an hour, so
I kicked down for the ER-6's and it's the best investment I have made for my cruising pleasure.
Comfy for the long haul.

You were sweating for nothing all this time.

Phase one complete.Now, when are you going to start on the rear section? Also, how are you going to mount them in the front?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention.

I have a 30gb Zune that I have as well that is new and never got used
because I'm just used to my 60gb Ipod Photo. The Zune plays video as
well so I'm going to use that strictly for the Busa now since it's been
in my desk for 6 months now not being used...lol

As far as earbuds go, anything over 50mph will require earbuds of course.
This is STRICTLY for cruise night get togethers, and around town usage.

Myself, I don't like earbuds ONLY because it puts me out of contact
completely with road noise and cars beeping. That to me is dangerous
around Chicago taxi drivers who try to run you over any chance they get.
