Hi guys i am new to this site and this is my first post just want to say you  guys have a great site lots of knowledgeable people. I bought a 2005 hayabusa Le 2 months ago and i have the moding bug  so i thought i would ask the experts . I want to cut 7 inches off of my stock mufflers and weld them back up probabley put a chrome strap around the seam so it wont be visible . I have read of lots of people doing this mod to there aftermarket pipes but not to a the stock mufflers . Ideally it would make the bike louder and i think it would look pretty cool to opinions suggestions please

Would definatly make it louder, but I do not think you are going to be happy about the fit and finish of the end product after welding. Normaly the aftermarket pipes have rivets on the end caps that are drilled out, then the pipe is cut, and then you replace the rivets and not messing up the end cap. Unfortuantly I do not think that a nice finish will be possible with a stock busa exhuast. However one or two hundred dollars would pick up some bolt ons from ebay you could do this to.

Yeah i was thinking about that . I was going to cut about an inch from the end and then about 6inches off then weld end back on then put like a stainless steel strap around the end covering up the weld seam.
