Stock Hayabusa...Anyone??

Call me a purist, but I like the bike the way it is.Suspension is very adjustable, power is awesome. The thing gets to 160 like I don't know what.To me, the stock exhaust sounds great. It's like that low pitched growl from some kind of cougar or leopard.Until you nail the throttle. I've had friends on the highway(in cages) tell me that they could hear it with the windows up and the radio on.I like it.
Maybe I'm just too scared of what I(I mean IT) would turn it into if I started fiddlin' with it.I ride the H*** out of this bike. There are some twisties in my area and lots of straight long roads.I can't imagine changing the thing.Maybe if I had had my butt kicked by some kid on a tricked ZX9 I would be singing a different tune, but I don't think so.I enjoy the bike as is and ride it at 9/10ths alot.I'm not trying to say anything derogatory about modifications to the 'Busa .There has always been things that I DID NOT like about ALL the other bikes I have owned, but this one is DIFFERENT.
Just the opinion of a very mellow guy who likes to ride.

How many miles do you have on it. Mine still stock at 3,150. But I've decided to replace the original cam tensioner adjuster with a manual.

Yeah, I agree. Every time I have modifyed anything in the past, every waking moment seemed to be getting it to run like it did from the factory.

Carlito,
I have just over 5000 miles on it.I'm keeping a wary lookout for tensioner probs.I wouldn't change anything until the warranty has expired. It will void the warranty on the bike.If you have some other problem and they find an aftermarket piece, it could cause headaches.Just my $.02

Earl,
Could not agree with you more. This bike is a well balanced machine. Most mods tend to make it stronger in a certain range, but you usually lose something somewhere else.I know that it can be improved all around, but it would take alot of trial and error ,dyno time, money, probably fustration, and decreased saddle time before you were done. Most tend to pipe it and claim magical gains "throughout the rpm range".I tend to think that those are the ones who have numb butts. My a** is sensitive and I can feel everything that goes on while riding.
As I've said,I have nothing against people who mod their bikes.I actually enjoy seeing and reading about them.It is just not for me.

LOVE MY BIKE THE WAY IT IS. Changed the stickers, looks good :) as for performance, I didn't feel the need to spend 5000.00 on parts to make the bike go 20mph faster. Especially since I am too scared to go past 170 mph anyway.

No changes on mine except for windscreen, helibars, and gauge faces. Also did a little file and grind to sidestand. All comfort changes and no performance changes. Waiting for performance upgrades to settle down some. Seems something better coming up everyday and I'm not wanting to change anything twice.

Mine is completely stock. And I like it that way. But I will eventually add a full exhaust. Probably not until sometime next year. I plan to keep the bike for a while and I'd like to to get some use out of the original parts before I start removing them. My stock exhaust sounds better every day. Once I have to replace something I'll probably go aftermarket, like the Michelin Pilot on the rear because I picked up a nail in the OEM.

As stock it's great. Once out of warranty, it will to all mine!

Everything is stock on mine and I loved it that way. But I am going to change my exhaust now. I need something louder. I believe that if I had them I would not have been swipped off the road last week. I had a GSXR1100 before this with a very loud hindle and you can notice people looking into thier rear view mirrors just because I am approaching. With this its like I'm sneaking up on them. Now I am having to change almost all the fairings and aftermarket is so much cheaper.

My '00 blu and silver is completely stock except for the rims. I took Martins advice and removed the black paint from the outer part. The performance is already great. I agree that modifications to the engine usually result in a trade off for something else.

Stock copper 99 with 10,000 miles. Yet to decide whether mild pipe, etc. or go for the turbo from BAD to have that sleeper look with the stock exhaust. I love the performance and quietness, so stealthy, once some of these turbo systems are sorted out or not I'll make my decision.

Mine only got 950 miles on it but I plan to keep it 100% stock. I love the way the bike looks....even the dual aluminum exhaust with the machined lines & blacked out rims so no planned aesthetic changes. It's already the fastest bike on the planet so no planned power improving devices. And suspension? The bike handles beautifully already(the best of any open class bike) so what for? And I haven't even fiddled with the settings! Some people suggested an exhaust but I already like the sound and don't want to mess around with repacking the tubes or fiddling with the fuel injection. I got a friend who got an Erion Bros pipe on his CBR1100xx. Beautiful set of pipes that one. But he had problems with ground clearance, plus his gas mileage went way down after the re-jet. I just don't want to deal with that stuff on my Busa. The only bikes I would fit an aftermarket exhaust are Hondas(cause they're too quiet), and any V-Twin engined bike(cause they sound sooo good).

Put 11,500 miles on my stock 99. Ran perfect, wheelies and hotrodin' the whole time except when I had to clean the fuel pump screens, twice plus the recall.

Bone stock except: Zero gravity DB shield, and cut about 5" off the rear fender and shorted the signal light stalks. 3200 miles no problems.
