What are the stock teeth on front and rear sprockets?

I currently have a 16 front and a 40 rear.

Was just about to change em and found the replacement I ordered is a 16 front and 42 rear. The 42 is noticably bigger.

What should I expect? More torque or higher top end? I am easily confused ...

Also no guesses plz, just the facts mam.

Thanx - K

17 / 40  is stock.

I suspect that you're gonna be pretty peppy with 16/42.   Less top end, but quicker down low.

I'm running 17/43, which, IIRC, is close to 16/42.

I love it!

17-40 is stock. The 42 will add about 5% rpm add any give MPH . It will take away from top speed a bit, but give more response at the bottom end because of the higher RPM. I run the 16-42 at the track. Max in 4th gear is about 141-142 mph. It will still fit with the stock chain.

17/43 is closer to a 16/40 between 16/40 and 16/41

here is a quick chart I made. 3rd column is ratio. 4th is percentage rpm will go up at any given MPH compared to stock.

16 40 2.500 6.25%
16 41 2.563 8.90%
16 42 2.625 11.56%
16 43 2.688 14.22%
16 44 2.750 16.87%
16 45 2.813 19.53%
17 40 2.353 0.00%
17 41 2.412 2.50%
17 42 2.471 5.00%
17 43 2.529 7.50%
17 44 2.588 10.00%
17 45 2.647 12.50%
