Hi guys, I'm a long time reader, first time poster.
I've been having a hard time keeping the front down at the local 1/8th mile track (its been pretty discourageing getting whooped on by track prepped bikes while I show off my pogostick impersenation).
So today (friday)I decide to get a strap for the bus. I'm thinkin' it should help contain the wheel standing some right?. Well HOLY KAW the strap did its job about 10 times better than I thought it would!
Anyways I pull into the track and as I'm parking I spot the green 12 and cringe a little. After a cold dew and a smoke I scope out the 12, it is owned by the local Kaw dealers son and his daddy is there watching (daddy was running a turboed car tire kaw that was hauling some serious butt). I start making passes, I get 2 solos in noting how well the bike is staying down and that I can now launch hard enough to tame the freaky clutch (I'm smilin' big now!) 3rd time around and here comes the 12 wanting a piece of the bus, at the line I'm thinking 'this ones for the money honey!' 1 2 3 GO! good launch, front tire tiptoeing down the track and the 12 choked and got off the gas. Easy empty victory. Right back around for another pass. 12 jumps out front on a redlight, I get a good launch on the green, but hey the bus must have a mind of its own, cause she reared up on one foot and ran that 12 down! Back around again for a 3rd pass we stop in the stageing lanes to cool down a bit and Mr. kaw dealer comes over to check me out, and get this, they start spewing excuses (typical) strap this and strap that, hey pop we need one of those, short wheelbase blah blah; so I say that akro sure sounds nice. Then its time for us to run again, we both redlighted, (my rt was a .493) it was a good run, neck and neck, the bus was edgeing out the 12 on the top end but the 12 got the win light prolly due to him not redlighting by as much, hard to say which one of us got there first, it couldn't have been more than a wheel length. Well after this he had had enough and went home so I didn't get to play anymore.
Oh well it was a blast!
and I got at least a weeks worth of adrenalin...
Sorry for going on and on. Maybe I can sleep now.
