Any tips on storing my bike for about 4 months while I'm in Afghanistan. I have front and rear stands and battery tender, also can show my wife or son how to start and let idel. Will this be enough? Should I fill her up? leave just enough gas? fuel stabilizer? etc..
Thanks

no add stabilizer and fill the tank up with gas let it run for about 10 minutes let it sit for the 4 months
only filling it half way will cause rust to form above the gas from heat from spring

fresh oil change, battery tender, fill up tank with fuel stabilizer run for ten min.up on stands ,cover exhaust ends to stop moisture entering exhaust and cover.no real need to run it every month.i store my bike every winter like this and it sits for 4-5 months .no probs in the spring at start up.my .02

+1:thumbsup: with what expat1970 said, i currently have my bike in storage for the following reason. with my last bike TLR1000 i did the exact same thing for 12 mo pick her up from storage hit the start button she fired right up. you should be fine.

i meant to say fill tank and add stabilizer:laugh: dont fill it up with it:welcome:

Definitely DON'T start it while you're gone, just let it sit with the fuel stabilizer in it, on stands and the battery tender going.

Also make sure it is in a spot that they won't have to try and move it to get to something or have them drop an item on it while getting it down.

cover the muffler openings (keep critters out). also, might be better to NOT start/idle the bike (since battery will be hooked up to a tender anyway). plus sta-bil has been thru the lines.

I agree with the above statement on battery. I am deployed in Afghanistan and also did the same thing you plan on doing. Wife would start bike every week after tendering it. It killed the battery 6 months into it. She had to by another battery. Stay safe things are getting crazier daily.

In '05 spent 60 days in Kand, Bagr, and Kabl. Son started my crusier (no busa then) every two weeks. Everthing good. (Told him I recorded mileage too.) :cheerleader:

I like the tender and Stab in fuel. Should be fine. You be safe over there and come back home to the busa family. Everyone over there please be safe!!

Been to Iraq twice an Afghanistan since I bought my Busa. Did the suggestions from da Org each time and no issues. Stay safe.

Same here - full tank and add the Stabil. Take her out for a 20 minute ride to get the fuel and Stabil mixed, park it, Tender it and kiss her goodnight. Been storing bikes for 20 years that way.
