StStStStutter.....

Heelp! My bike is stuttering like mad, I need to sync the throttle body's and set the TPS. Where is the connecter and what are the pins I need to short to put the bike in dealer mode?

Any help would be greatly received as it's very wet and slippery in the UK at the moment and poor throttle response is the last thing I need!

Must get hold of a manual, but they're like rocking horse **** over here.

You can have a manual by tomorrow delivered by FedEx like I did. Just call PRANAV at 818 994-2882 and ask him to send one to you. I just got mime about an hour ago. The cost is $59.95 plus shipping. Tell him Roberto Jorge recommended you. Good luck with your problem.

Ride Safe, Bob

A stutter isn't a TPS or throttle balance problem. Check the fuel filters first.

To find the TPS lift the seat and hump. On my '00 it's the white connector with the black rubber cap. Mine was pushed down the left side next to the EFI box under the seat. It has TWO wires coming out of it. Just jumper the two metal female holes with a paper clip. Tape off the exposed part of the paper clip so it doesn't ground to the subframe. If it shows -C00 at idle and the hyphen flips up at about 2000 RPM you are good. If bad you will want to buy the Suzi TPS wrench p/n 09930-11960 $11 USD.

Email me if you want me to fax the manual pages. I think I sent your countryman Sorehead the pages already.

I would also check any vacuum hose that might have falling of from under the airbox unit.It happened to my bike and the bike would not idle or run normal.Good Luck

try this:
first:

check all simple vacuum lines, gas lines;

remove air box, open throttle bodies so butterfly is full open (use some simple prop to hold in open position], get some "q" tips or something similar and wipe down each throttle body and the butterflies...
then, with clean no lint rag [wrap rag aroun finger tip], lightly wipe inside of throttle body with rag soaked in carb cleaner;
if you can get the carb cleaner in atomized sprayer, spray light amount on butter flies;

light spray each butterfly with carb cleaner;

replace spark plugs, gapped correctly;

start motor:
while running at idle, without air box on, light spray each butterly, throttle body, not so much motor stalls, but enough it idles a little rough;

crack throttle 2-3000 rpms once or twice;

put on air box and ride.

if the problem is still there then check balance;

if balance o.k. sttuter still there, add fuel injection cleaner, double concentrate, ride it to at least 8000 rpm through 3 gears;

if sttutter stil there then check fuel filters;

Get the dealer to work on it. The expense should be covered by the warranty. 99% of us have not had any significant problems.

Previous stutter has been cured by adding cleaner - this now fails to work so that's why I'm assuming something else is up, Suzuki checked the fuel pressure and all was OK so fuel filter blockage was ruled out.

I am cheesed off with this, I've buy bikes to ride them not pull them apart every weekend to fix the manufacturers design problems, I'm tempted to dump the Busa and get a ZX12 I *know* that will be reliable.

My current and previous Yamaha's have never missed a beat despite huge amounts of abuse, the Busa is in a lower state of tune than an R1 - why the problems? It's a shame - I love the Busa, but when a bike is you daily transport, living with problem such as reoccurring poor throttle response and a duff clutch can really get you down, after spending £7000 on a new bike I don't expect to have to spend more to fix it.

Rant over! :)

PS thanks for your input so far guys!

TPS adjust and Throttle Body synch made my bike respond much better, but didn't cure the stutter (everytime I think I had it, it came back). Clearing the filters and fuel pump rid me of cutout and got back alot of power, but it still stuttered. Finally I pulled the BMC filter and put the stocker back in. No stutter, just smooth, wheel lifting power all the way. Looks like my problem was being lean, so I need another map. If you've made any mods or adjusted any mapping, go back to bone stock and see if it persists. If it does, then the dealer will have no choice but to warranty the repairs and fix it. What revs / gear / amount of throttle opening did it occur at? Mine was 3100 to 3900 on 15% or smaller throttle openings in any gear.

I understand your feelings mouse, I believe as you do that for 11grand american it should be bulletproof. And I mean set it and forget it. There is no question in my mind this is the most maintenance intensive bike I've ever owned. As well as the most tempermental. But, until the 12 shows up someday its still the undisputed king.

Very lucky indeed! I was averaging two + nails a year, and that got kind of expensive after awhile. I'm sure with time I could have tuned the leaness out, but I don't have a place to really open the Busa up to test different mappings. I'm not complaining too much about my Busa's problems, just because I like to tinker with my bikes, and this one gives me reasons too :) If you're all stock and stuttering still, I'd go to the dealer and tell them to make it right.

mbuehler, I originally suspected the PCII could be at fault so I reverted to stock, which made the stutter worse (suggesting a lean mixture)
Mind you the bike is now overdue for a service - better get it seen to before I loose my warrenty!

Got a nail through my almost new front Pilot yesterday so I'm even more peaved! Still it's my first puncture in over 10 years of riding at 10-16K miles a year can't be bad I suppose! (damn lucky really!)
