Stupid newb question

Ok, before I get flamed, I know that they are the shifter/brake/foot peg replacements, but what else to they offer? Are people replacing rearsets in order to move the pegs for a better riding position? What exactly is the benefit?

Seriously though, High Quality rearsets are supposed to help you obtain the "Perfect" riding position, most allow a good deal of adjustment and increased ground clearance. Did I mention they look Shid Hot!

But mostly it's a Racing thang, loose some weight and the fact that the aftermarket rearsets are allmost allways Rigid mounts, without any rubber mounts, or spring loading they improve feel.

But yeah, you got it. Better riding position... For racing anyway, I dunno if anyone makes rearsets designed to "Improve" legroom.

To tell you the truth, I think they do.
When I was looking for some rearsets for my old bike I was thinking about getting some from lockhart phillips. They were adjustable. I was looking at them because they could be adjusted to raise the position by a few inches, but they also mentioned that they could be adjusted to lower the position a few inches.

But now that I think about it, I don't remember if it was a rearset or just an adjustable peg replacement (close enough tho.....

different position(more aggressive or less aggressive position)
cosmetic appearance
better grip
solid bolted on peg, (doesn't get pushed up then the spring push it back down)
shorter shift (when shifting less distance to move into next gear)
better ground clearance, or worse if you go less aggressive
less weight

Some rearsets have all of these and some rearsets have some of these. Everyone else mentioned these, I just sumarized it

interesting I was looking for some, the only ones I seen was the vortex ones, and yeah they can be adjusted up or down. forward and back.
