as some of you know i do a lot of "goofing around" on the busa.(just to show the 750 guys it can be done!!!)i can wheelie long through 2nd.but i cant get this bitchh up in second without clutch. ive tried everything. hopping it,leaning and pulling, let off gas , load up forks and still nothing. is it impossible without clutch?? even with the clutch i find it hard sometimes. can someone give me thier teknique on revs, ect. for example i usually get going in first about 30mph(4,500rpm or so) let of gas reall fast and slam her down! instant 2 foot wheelie, and then i can shift into 2nd. it would be much easier to just get it up in second to begin with.

What gearing do you have??? With the 16-42 and the 8" extended Trac arm I can pull the front up by snapping the throttle in second gear.

Same problem here, I have to start out in 1st. I'm going to 16/41 and have added lightweight wheels and pfm brakes.
That should do it.

Are you kidding? Mine is 1.5" down front and rear, and it is coming up in third since I did the mods. What is your altitude? Do you have a plugged fuel filter?

gsxrboy, i live in downriver mi, remember. i have no mods (to engine). no lowering or teeth. is that a big differance???

kirk, i have a 00' with 1,600 miles or so. it will come up but it aint no R1 2 ft. monster wheelie!!believe me i tryed as many ways as possible. even the infamous "HOP".i can clutch it but dont do it much because i still have stock chain. another thing the only thing that really eats up the chain on this bike is clutchin it. i have had mine only stretch twice in 1600 miles. but i hardly ever do "clutch wheelies". i think that helps.

I realize your full of shitt kirk but lets try and keep it within reason, K?

Getting it up in second takes a little practice. Once you get it, it's real easy and you say stupid stuff to people like "it just comes up", or "just whack the throttle". The bounce thing helps. A stock busa will go to zero gravity if bounced in second at 6000rpm. Most will come up real slow. Just keep on the gas, it will rise slowly. Back off when at desired height. Also make sure you're turning the throttle all the way, grip it a little forward of usual to turn it more.

Or put a Muzzy or Akro on it, get a MH air box, and don't worry about it any more.

To make it easier on the bike and you, go spend about $50 for a 44T rear sprocket. that little amount of money will help make it even easier in second. My 99 wheelies in second, no clutch, but requires technique at higher speed without using clutch. My bike is stock except for the 44T and BT56ss.

Go with either a 16t front sprocket OR a 42r sprocket, same final drive ratio.

2nd gear around 6 grand, you can load the front end (rock it) and hit it hard she'll float up easy. Then ride her out... you can go through all the gears if you have the balls...

well here are some factors, gsxrboy , of course your bike isnt gonna want to wheelie as good. (swingarm..)anyway omega it is almost an advantage being 250lbs. all you have to do is lean back a lot and it loads the back up. oh well i dont know what the helll is up with it. i guess its good then so when im racing i dont have to worry about the 4th gear mystery wheelie(zx9 tuned).

c_rod2000 - Hmm the lowering and extended arm actually make it a lot harder to bring up than a stock wheelbase non-lowered Busa. The big difference is most likely the 16/42 gearing that I have. I would think with a stock wheelbase you could simply put a 16 on the front and get it up without a problem.

The Objcts to shift in the Air!!! I roller about 4500 then stab it comes right up 1st 2nd 3rd. Get kinda harry after that besides your 300 yards now good enough! lol

Omega, do you have something constructive to add to this discussion, or are you just going to chip your teeth from 3000 miles away? Rod asked a question, and the rest of us are trying to help. Yes, my Bus comes up in third gear since I pulled the counterbalancer, did the airbox mod, and installed Muzzy ti pipe with round ti can. The bike has lost 15lbs of additional weight elsewhere, for a total weight loss of about 50lbs. It scales at 500lbs right now. It does it one up or with a pillion. I may accidentally be bouncing it on the 2-3 upshift. Maybe we have really good air here or something, I don't know. It kind of scares me when it does it. I'm back to being afraid of the throttle.

Na I'm just havin a little fun with ya kirk.
I have all the same stuff including 16/40 gearing and still cant get it up on throttle only in second.
The fact that I weigh 250 shouldnt have anything to do with it. We'll see what she does with my latest rounds of additions.
Ya got good taste in bikes kirk.
