has anyone cut that bar on hte left side it kinds of curves out then back in similar to a handle is this bar needed? if so what function does it serve im trying to clear some room up for some bottles to go on each side ive alreayd relocated my rectifier, or is it my voltage regulator

If you're talking about the voltage regulator hoop...Yeah I have cut them off...no biggie.

If you're talking about the voltage regulator hoop...Yeah I have cut them off...no biggie.

The bar on the left side of the tail section is used to raise the bike on to a center stand

if we're talking the same piece well I guess so. Doesn't matter...never had a center stand on my bike and it got cut off.

if we're talking the same piece well I guess so. Doesn't matter...never had a center stand on my bike and it got cut off.

Center stand is optional....if you were to have one, you stand on the
left side of the bike and put your hand in the hole in the tail section, push
down with your foot on the center stand and lift up on the bar

Wouldn't it be easier to use the grab bar instead?

That is the way they designed it...I had a '83 GS1100E with a center stand, they came with them back then.

If you had a center stand you could use the grab bar, but it's easier
with the other one because you lift straight up.
