To keep the two halves of farings together, where the left side fits to the right side side under the bike.
If you look there is are two tabs on the right side that fits in slots on the left side.
First tape the two farings together, and drill a 1/8" hole in the left faring 3/8" from the split line, so it goes through the tab and the slot.
You only have to put one in, the back one.
Then you can put a weather strip retainer in the hole and it looks like it belongs there.
You can buy the GM part # 45642 from any Chevy dealer for around $1.00
