Sunday October 4th, we are all meeting at the Escondido Shell, 3480 Del Lago Blvd. Escondido, CA 92029.
"This will not be a squid ride or knee dragin event. There will most likely be way too many riders for that kind of riding. This will be a ride YOUR OWN SAFE SPEED ride, generally not exceeding 65mph. We will stop and re-group at all road changes so we will not lose anybody. There is no reason to push hard to keep up as we much rather wait for you than wait for the paramedics. Most likely someone will volunteer to ride sweep. (Please let me know if you know these roads well and would like to volunteer to ride sweep or to lead a smaller sub-group) We will attempt to line up in order of experience level and expected ride speed. Passing will be permitted with the acknowledgment of the passee. Following distance between riders should be a min. of 100ft.
There will be no limit on the number of riders on this one, but depending on the number of riders attending, we may be dividing up into some number of smaller sub groups based on riding experience level at the start.
General Route:
Highland Valley Road to 67/78
Old Julian Highway
Wynola Road
Banner Grade
Yaqui Pass
Lunch in Borrego Springs at Carlees or Jilberto's Taco Shop
Up Montezuma Grade (Short stop at Overlook) to S2 to 79
to 76 through Mesa Grande and back to 79 to 78 in Santa Ysabel 78
The ride will officially end in Santa Ysabel as there are many routes home from that point depending on where home is for you.
Last time we did this ride there were 38 attendees
