Well, my garage is full of shiny black parts....it's now time to start assembling this black Busa. Today I picked up this amazing bracketed swingarm, when I held it up under the frame to see what it'd look like, I got real happy! I know I'm talking about how great my motorcycle will be blah, blah, but this is the best place I know to just express my excitement.
A recent post talked about "Are you bored with your Busa?" Today, boredom isn't even in my vocabulary.

Holding this swingarm, feeling it's smoothness and imagining it on the Superbyke is truly a pleasure for me and I've learned so much about this amazing Hayabusa(BTW, a stock swingarm is 16.4 pounds and the 0-6" bracketed one is 17 pounds, hardly any difference!)....don't fret about a new model coming out, make yours just like you want it to be!

Pics coming in near future capturing the reassembly and then the ride tests! Doyle

you should be :ban: for posting this thread at such early stage in the assembly process. now I need to bookmark this one too:banghead::laugh:

Why the longer arm Doyle? I'm not against it, I had thought this was a track and twisties type build rather than a straight line oriented build? Just curious, looks great either way, get her put together for us!

OK, great question guys, here's the philosophy....right away we've got a Busa that's 100 pounds lighter and will be dialed in at a special level of mapping (I have a friend that just got trained to open up all circuitry and go way farther than Power Commander and dyno tuning/seperate post later with explanations), SO, even before the motor gets any internal upgrades, it should be quite fast.
I want this motorcycle to be able to perform like a Triathelete performs....fast swimmer, elite bicyclist, amazing runner. The Superbyke has a ZERO to 6" swingarm that is even stronger than OEM arm. When at 0", it is a canyon carver, track bike and all around performer. When extended, it becomes an LSR bike and bike for the dragstrip. The "dogbones" are the adjustable ones for both raising and lowering the carriage. The chain is high end chrome with two rivited masterlinks for any length desired, I have three torque arms(rear caliper arms), all different lengths for different wheelbase adjustments. Bottom line, it will be FULLY adjustable depending on the job at hand....and not a "jack of all trades, master at none".....it is designed to be a "master of all trades"!
The Superbyke will live most of it's life with stock length arm but will be ready for anything. I hope that clarifys my intentions, I explained this in some depth because of the PM's I've received and the above questions. I enjoy making this creation as transparent as possible so as to contribute information to those contemplating deeper mods to their Busas. So far, I've learned that this is a motorcycle that is ready for whatever you have ready for her, as long as it's done with love and great respect!

This is the pic I will use for comparison, it's right after the conversion to "naked" but before the "take it all apart again cause I really know what it needs now" time. When it's finally done, I'll take a similar pic and look at em side by side.

Very cool concept D. I can't wait to see her in all her glory.

For LSR will you have a fairing?

No Willie, before I took it down this time, I did some high speed testing and, with the little quarter windscreen you wouldn't believe how UNturbulant the cockpit is! There are unfaired classes and it would be fun to test its capabilities. The Superbyke will never see a fairing again.
