OOOOO yea.........
I just got over hernia surgery. If you are getting the screen installed, you will be down for a week. If they are going to do the stitch method, you will be down for a month or more. I've had both. My last hernia strangulated my right testicle. It is going on 2 months and my right "boy" is still swollen, but it has no pain.

Thanks Aussie....

Yeah I'm getting screens...so for you it was just a week and you could get up and over the Busa?

20 years ago 3 days in hospital. 5 years ago in and out same day. Off work for me 5 days. Wardie

BPJ, NO, you're not gonna' be riding for a while.........Although you will be able to move around and do light work, you will be instructed not to lift more than 40 lbs. for 4-6 weeks. Then begin lifting in small incriments for the next 4-6 weeks. I had a cruiser when I had the screens done and I couldn't ride for almost a month, the 'Busa will be harder on you 'cause your "boys" will be against the tank. In addition, the screens take some getting used to, you will have some wierd feelings, like "poking" in the affected area for 6 months or so.........

Oh Snap! Don't like the sound of that! Maybe I'll put this off....it's an annoyance more than any thing....like when I cough or sneeze I have to put pressure on it to avoid that weird pulling sensation.

i had shoulder surgery in september. had zero mobility in my arm for a month. over the last month mobility is back to about 3/4 of normal. doing physical therapy 3 days a week and i am also doing bikrum yoga so stay in shape while i recover since i cant lift weights or run.

surgeon says it can be up to a year before i have full use of my shoulder again.

cant swing my golf clubs or put weight on it for some time. i have cheated and took the duc out for a ride, but it was for 20min and i was sore for days afterward.

Do not put it off...
That is how the insides get strangulated. This is a very dangerous situation. When the intestine strangulates (or anything inside) the problem will become much worse. If it strangulates, it gets twisted and cuts off blood supply, the strangulation can become gangrenous (Gangrene) and you really do not want that kind of death, yes, really. Get it taken care of now, just man-up and do it. You will have plenty of time for fun and it will be more fun when you don't have a health issue facing you. Is your hernia umbilical or ingual?

I wouldn't put it off. Get it fixed and then follow the docs orders so you can get back in the saddle.

i had surgery on a friday and was back at work the following tuesday. surgeon wanted me to take a month off, but he wasnt gonna pay my bills so i had to work.

my lawsuit would have paid for time off of work but since it wont settle until my shoulder is fully healed in a year or so i had no option of time off. just had to cope with the pain.

cant remember the procedure name now, but it was a labrum tear and it required drilling holes into the bone marrow and drilling screws into the shoulder to anchor tissues back together. sounds painful,,, well a oxicontin and perkaset cocktail did not make a dent in the pain and just made me stay awake for 3 days straight so i couldnt even dull the pain.

swell,,,

Geez we should send each other the XRAYS and comapre screw jobs..my screw is about an inch long. Wait till your surgeon thinks he's a commedian and tells you , "you really got screwed"! Wardie

I never had a hernia surgery. But I can tell you if you had a surgery to repair a torn ACL. After that surgery which was caused by someone rearending and total out my hayabusa. One week after surgery I went to the dealership and bought a brand new hayabusa. I had actually a couple of people that worked at the dealership help me on the bike and had them help me to bend my knee. I drove the bike home and before this riding of my new bike....I had not had bent my knee yet. When I got home....I was in so much pain...I had tears streaming down my face. People asked me at red lights if I was ok........I said yes....I have a new hayabusa.......driving it home..with a smeark on my face......but the tears were from the pain. I think these people were thinking that I was freaking crazy. After I got home and place the bike on the kick stand I got off the bike and fell on the garage floor. I crawled on my stomach into the house and collapse next to the coach on the floor. I took 2 pain killers that I had left there on the stand....passed out for hours and had cold sweats......wife came home and screamed at me and told me that I was not even supposed to be standing let alone crutching it to the car and buying a brand new motorcycle and driving it home......she was pissed at me. She helped me in bed and I past out again the rest of the night. The next day I felt great. I walked on my own and took a shower with my leg in a trash bag. I jumped on the bike and rode it for hours and this time it only took 4 hours for the tears to be streaming. The next day I did the same....took 7 hours for the pain. The next after.....12 hours........next day...never hurt again. The bike actually help me get over my injury.

Been awhile for mine and it was before all the neaton new methods they have but I recall 3 days in hospitol and a hurtin mofo for about 2 weeks after that.

Mine was right side and done all stitched.

The olny worse pain that was comparable was kidney stones.

But like I said, thing shave come a long way with techniques and technology.
