Heres the story.

Memorial day weekend i got a 07 gixxer 600 for a back up bike brand new from the dealer. Got it home and the 5th gear indicator did not work. Rode it on vacation for a week. I put 480 miles on it in 1 week. Got home and noticed that the rear tire was spliting on the sides (pix later). Took it by the dealer in the morn, parts manager and I seen one spilt, must hit something and put small cut in it. Well later that day was when i took it in to get the 5th gear light to work again and noticed another split about 2 fingers with from the 1rst. I was like what the hell. Dealer says not warrenty item eventhough the parts manager and myself seen only on that morn. Dealer said they would call Suzuki and that was weird about the cuts. Anyway i gave up and got a set of power pilots for the bike. Now the bike has only 524 miles on it now, tires still shiny on the side and chicken strips still there on the old tires. Suzuki still says not cover under warrenty, that is normal wear and tear. B.S. the tires are brand freakn new, they came on the bike and bike has 524 miles on it. THIS was 2.5 weeks ago i just got it back today for a sensor and tires.
2 days ago i called to see how it was doing they said the tire is on, AH tire i got a new front and rear. THE idiots put a new battle ax back on the rear and was gonna send the new tires back. AHHH. Got that straightend out and they finally got the new rubber on and sensor in.
JUST got it back today with the tank scratched, bike covered in grease, out of gas, 10 extra miles on it, rear tire outta alignment, billed retail price on the tires when i have wholesale acct, billed for 2 times ($108) for mount and balance because their screw up, and left the bike outside for me to pick it up and couldnt wait the 10min for me to get there. WTF!!!
IS THIS NORMAL? WHY WOULD SUZUKI NOT WARRENTY NEW DEFECTIVE TIRES?? WHAT GOOD IS A WARRENTY???

sorry to hear of this crap allot of that crap the dealer could have fixed sound like their customer service really suxs

I dont know about the tires, but I would be whoopin sum arse for the 10 mile "test drive" miles, with the out of alignment wheel, grease, and empty tank! SOB's!

Way too many dealers don't pay well because there are a million punk kids lining up at their door that think it would be cool to work on bikes. Most of these kids couldn't fix a wagon wheel without messing it up. My dealer has five "REAL" techs that work on the bikes and has one or two kids-lot boys, that sweep, clean up, take out the trash and maybe wash a bike but seldom if ever work on the bikes. Try to do some research and find yourself a new dealer that has real techs. Good luck

Will have to do something. Everyone in this town hates that dealer, but not much to do unless you drive over 80 miles away.

That's why I keep my dealer relationship to purchases and the parts counter.

How do dealerships stay in business. Who is buying and taking their bikes to them. I buy everything used and will not take my bike to the dealer for ANYTHING. I have no previous mechanical knowledge, but with a great place like the org, you don't have to rely on someone else.

I guess when I'm flying down the expressway doing 150mph, I like to know that it was mee that torqued the axle bolt to 76ft/lb, not some asswipe kid.

Couldnt have said it better, i know the work i do. Not the other guy, that i hope did it properly.
But back to the issue. You might want to do something like contact a person a few ticks higher. Screw the dealership, call a regional. Or even a national if you can dig up some numbers. I'm sure if you get the right attention it'll make those guys think twice about doing BS work.

+1 Call American Suzuki in California to complain about the service and the charges. I'd mention the tire issue as an aside, and maybe they'll help you with that as well.

Then I'd take the bike to the other dealer, even if it's an 80-mile ride (or tow), for a once-over.

Todays update.....

Called to talk to the Head Service manager today. Was told he does not give any discounts or wholesale prices in service. That I should have handled that in parts before the install (ah same dealer same ticket what??). Asked about the my tank all scratched up and the SOB hangs up and wouldnt take anymore calls. Never did get to find out why the extra miles or anything else. Brighter side the Parts manager is looking into a way to help me out with all that. He is afraid of losing my auto account. I would be too, i send around 30 grand a month in parts with the guy.

Teachs me next time to fix my own bike, and forget the warrenty. It not like i dont know how or have to tools, just tryn to get the defects fixed under warrenty for future problems.

30 large a month? The manager should be all over you straigtning it out. I'd say their idiots. I'd put the whole thing in writing, take ur bidness elswhere and let cry in his beer...

Read your warrenty fine print, tires, brake pads, chain, etc.. are NOT covered. The rest is BS true. But as I've always said, buy your bike at the stealership and leave, don't go back until you want another bike. Look around for a LBS type parts/service place, if you have one you'll get much better service than you ever will at a stealership. Stealerships make money selling bikes, the rest is a PITA for them and is looked at as such by them. LBS makes their money by selling you parts and tires, then installing them on your bike. If their service is not good, they are out of business quick, so they make sure stuff is done right.

I do know that tires are not covered under warrenty but come on now 500 miles on a set of tires and they split open??

That's why I do everything I possibly can myself, hate our local dealer.

He does my tires and that's it and I may have found a new place (ducati dealer)....we'll see.

That statement aside, I've got to let them do the valve job but I'll take all my plastics off
and deliver the bike naked...less for them to 'f up.

Were I your dealer, tire warrantee be damned, I'd at least replaced at cost and halfed it with you
just to keep your business.

thats rediculous. I'd be on

In my opinion, Suzuki North America is most of the problem. Every dealership is given an exclusive teritory. If a new dealership wants to get started, it needs permission of the existing dealerships who's teritory might be impacted. No competition = no motivation to do anything more than the bare minimum.
