Swapping guages

I'd like to swap a 2000 speedo onto a 2002 Busa. Good/Bad?? I know the speedo isn't acurate now, but how accurate will it be on speed and miles(odometer)?? What's the legal issue involving the bike's mileage??

i would also be interested to know if the different years are swapable. Does the bike recognise that its been changed?

Plug and play i put 220 gauges on my 02 if you want accurate calibrations just get a speedo healer or a yellow box i have the yellow box to make the corrections

as far as the mileage is concerned just note current miles on bike. Miles on new cluster and keep it handy. This way if you ever sell it you can tell what the real miles are. Another thing you can do is check with your dealer to see if they can have the miles reset to match what is on the bike. When I worked on cars and they needed a new speedo we took down the miles on the car and ordered a new cluster to match. You may be able to get it set up to be right for your bike.

As an alternative, you may want to consider a set of IllumiGlow gauge faces. I have the white faces with reverse lighting on mine, and they look terrific. The kit is under $100 and includes both the 185 mph and the 220 mph speedo faces.
