swing arm question

I personally would have it underbraced. That's alot of stress way out there in my opinion. Thompson is pretty reputable, if your interested in it give em a ring and see how much they would charge you to brace it.

I think it deppends on what your going do with bike. That arm looks reel good for the strip, for street riding I think it should be braced. you see lots of arms at the stripp with no brace and there toting the mail big time

get an arm from a reputable dealer , I won't trust that arm with my life

Looks to be one piece tubing so it may be fine.Mine is welded pieces so it has to be underbraced.I would call them to see what they think and what the warranty is if it does break on you.

what's wrong with this one if I get it underbraced. just because its a reputable dealers dosent mean it's always the best. a reputable dealer probably started out the same way this guy is trying to.

Go with an evil swingarm if you want a quality arm for cheap. I think they are around 600 or maybe a little more. There is a thread about swingarms on a different site at the moment and most people are saying to stay away from a Thompson swingarm.

I would say go with a McIntosh arm, they just released a sport version that is fairly cheap. Terry does an awesome job and his customer service is second to none.

It will be fine for the street and track unless your pushing crazy HP. Heck, people run longer chromoly arms with no bracing all the time and chromoly arms are junk.

This, mcintoshs new arms are around 600as well. They offer trade up and you can get bracing and etc if you want. Terrys customer service is 2nd to none.

Every reputable company I have seen that makes swingarm offers a swingarm with or without under or over bracing. Roaring Toyz / Trac Dynamics I think you should do a little research and ask these builders what the difference or recommendations or limitations are on non braced arms. How you intend to ride it and how much power you are going to put on it maybe what decides whether bracing is needed.

I guess not everyone needs over an under bracing for their particular needs just like most people do not need the extra support ot the club foot for their ride

Make sure you have a clear picture of what an how you plan to ride your ride when asking about the arms

That arm looks better than extensions, but not best bang for the buck. I mean, if you can get a new or used one for $50-$100 that is underbraced and from a company that is proven to be used on bikes pushing 300-400+hp, why not go with that?

im not looking to push any crazy hp numbers anytime soon. my bike is nearly stock engine wise. the only thing im looking to do with it is probably cruise it and maybe do some cornering. but with a 10 inch stretch. corners are going to be a bit slower for me this year. ive been looking at the macintosh arms but the prices are a bit salty on them. but im sure its because they are a high quality arm.

call them and ask about their sport line arms. they are right there with pricing. a non braced arm will be fine on just about any bike. honestly if your looking for a cheap arm. get a 600 arm and send it off to have it stretched. poor mans grudge arm all day.
