Swingarm gap

Hi everyone…..a bit perplexed…trying to put this gen 1 back together, but the swingarm seems to be too narrow for the frame. I know that’s an oversimplification, but that’s kinda what’s happening. And this is the original swingarm that was on the bike. Full 1/8 inch gap. It literaly just slides side to side….clunk clunk. If the pivot bolt is tightened at all, it shoved the swingarm to the left and starts to bind up. The shims are inside of the seals as specified. I’m at a loss here…..

there is a set procedure for installation of the swingarm pivot shaft . . it's all laid out in the service manual.
You can get a service manual from @Berlin Germany if you ask very nicely lol.
Just tell him what the year model of the bike is, he has all the manuals and can give you a link for your Busa.
He's a very nice helpful German guy, extremely knowledgeable on all Hayabusas!

Thanks for the info, I'll reach out. I do have the service manual, though, and have followed the procedure specifically, more than once, but I'll send him a note.

Put the shock in, there will be a little side to side play without the shock installed.
Hmmm...okay, I'll give a go. But is has much more than a little....and not sure how the shock will limit side to side movement, but I'm willing to try anything. I'm still concerned about the actual gap that exists, though....but I appreciate the info!
