Once both the nut on the right and the collar on the left are removed..does the swing arm bolt just push out or is it threaded in?

Find it hard to believe this question has gone all day without an answer.. sorry Mike.. I've not got one for ya either~ I've gotta change out my swing arm also~ Just holding it off for now~ Figure it can wait until I have to replace the chain, sprocket, and cushes(sp?)... that way I can do it all at once~

I will post some instructions for you guys in a couple of hours... I am running home for lunch and I just want to make sure I give you ALL the instructions...

Okay, here we go....

Tools needed: sockets, torque wrench, (Special Socket or Screw Driver; we used the screwdriver to get the special nut off...), 2 people, hyrdo jack...

1. remove the front seat so you can have one person straddle the bike and keep it balanced while its on the hydro.

2. Loosen everything up while she is on the ground (rear tire stuff, dog bones, etc...)

3. Put the bike on the hydro under the oil pan while one person is straddling it to keep it up...

4. Other person removes rear tire, dog bones, rear spring, and ultimately swingarm... The special bolt for the swingarm that takes a special socket is not threaded into the frame if that is what you were asking above... Its a locking nut on the kickstand side of the bike...  YOU NEED TO LOOSEN SPECIAL SOCKET SIDE FIRST, BY REMOVING THE LOCKING PORTION... THEN REMOVE THE KICKSTAND SIDE LOCK NUT, AND THEN REMOVE THE LONG BOLT HOLDING THE SWINGARM.

Its not that bad, but probably would require 2 people to get her done. I don't know if I would take my chances of it falling doing it myself...

If you want details on something, ask a specific question and I will answer it for ya... If you need torque specs, I can get that out of the sevice manual, but if you don't have one, I suggest you download it for free on this site...

Never thought about a small hydraulic jack...was just going to lift it on the pipes with one of those Sears jacks. Worse comes to worse a rug is going on the garage floor and I'll just dump the sucker on it's side.........

Thanks Daniel!

Cloud9 is correct..it is a 2 person job...damn thing fell over twice last night.

Question..it all propped up now 3 jacks....does the swing arm axle just push out or do I need to turn it to unthread ??

Should just push out after you have removed the special nut on right side and nut on left side... I don't recall it being screwed in...

Hope the bike is okay after it fell...

For clarification... the swing arm "bolt" is threaded in. Torque to 11 ft lbs and then install the right collar and left nut. Not a bad job to replace.....picking the bike up twice ain't so good though......Cloud9 is right about it being a 2 person job.

That was the one thing I couldn't quite remember... I was thinking it wasn't threaded, but definetly could have been...

Glad it all worked it for ya though...
