switching to synthetic oil

I'm going to be switching to synthetic this winter and was wondering if I could just add the syn after draining the conv or do I have to"clean" all the remnances of the conv oil out first?

Prob a dumb question but I haven't the slightest

just pour it in... all the popular synthetics mix fine with a bit of dino oil...

I will be changing my oil here in the next couple weeks, Think I will go Synthetic as well.
