Temperature Gauge

I'm not a fan of the arbitrary hash marks on gauges. Does anyone know what the different lines actually equate to? My FZ-10 had a digital reading on the dash and it blows my mind Suzuki wouldn't have this as an option on the TFT on a bike that costs $5k more.
